SUXBNME 1,594 Posted February 11, 2013 I see you are completely filled in as usual. I take it back. Jose Padillo was afforded all of his Constitutional rights to due process. Nothing to see here. Your link didn't back sh1t up. Sorry bout that
Recliner Pilot 61 Posted February 11, 2013 Padilla was subject to "enhanced interrogation techniques" aka torture. Torture? Even the ACLU claims were nothing more than "sleep deprivation and sensory deprivation". Dayum! You guys are scrambling more than IHOP on a Sunday after church. nikki2200 4 Posted February 11, 2013 Your link didn't back sh1t up. Sorry bout that You should stick with posting cat videos. Jus' sayin'. I correctly assumed that RP would know who Jose Padilla was, and the details regarding his story, and the "link" was meant to throw that name out there to see what his response would be. If I have to dumb this down even further and provide the entire US history of the past decade via "links", it is not really something I am interested in doing. I'm not a teacher for a reason. If you are really interested, I'm sure his Wiki page has a good summary where the words aren't too big. But thanks for contributing to the conversation. Please show us where he was "Kidnapped and tortured" Thanks in advance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Padilla_(prisoner) I never said he was kidnapped. That was clearly hyperbole by MDC. However if I were taken and thrown in a hole for three years being subjected to extreme sensory deprivation and sleep deprivation, restrained in positions that caused physical pain, and deprived of speaking to anyone outside of the facility including a lawyer, I would probably feel as if I had been "kidnapped". nikki2200 4 Posted February 11, 2013 Ok, We will scratch him off the list. So the key word was "kidnapped"? So no point is valid regarding this issue because MDC used the word "kidnapped"? For the record, I don't give a shiit about any of this. I didn't mind it when Bush was doing it. And I don't mind it when Obama continues those practices. But that's the difference between you and me. My views don't change based on whether my "team" is in the White House. It's just hilarious how you sit here and pound your chest about due process and the Constitution and the poor Americans whose civil rights have been violated if Obama does anything, but then excuse everything Bush did by have a neatly little packaged response about it that I'm sure you got from Rush. Well..... Jose Padilla doesn't matter because eventually he got his due process after the ACLU fought the government for years. So we don't count him. Or you just focus on a specific word by one poster to prove you've won the argument so you can completely ignore the discussion altogether. But good on you, and Obama, for turning you into a card carrying radical lefty joining the ranks of the ACLU in defending the civil rights of Americans. I'm sure they are happy to have you aboard. Insightful. Concise. But insightful. Thanks for that.

Recliner Pilot 61 Posted February 11, 2013 So the key word was "kidnapped"? So no point is valid regarding this issue because MDC used the word "kidnapped"? Keywords: AmericanS Kidnapped. Tortured. So far nobody has showed us where anyone was kidnapped, or tortured. As far as detained indefinitely, Padilla had his day in court and a jury found him guilty of terrorism. Your guy plea bargained his U.S. citizenship away to get to go to Saudi Arabia.

nikki2200 4 Posted February 11, 2013 We get the leadership we deserve. It's just not really on my top ten list of things I give a shiit about. Maybe I watched too much 24 back in the day or something. This stuff has been going on behind closed doors throughout our history and if it helps our military and intelligence officials stop the bad guys, it's not something I get up in arms about. It was a little disconcerting when they extended The Patriot Act, which was supposed to be temporary. But until the government uses a drone on US soil and takes out a house in east suburbia, I don't care?

Second of all, my back is not against the wall, because I really don't care about any of this. Third of all, thanks for proving my entire point which is the blatant hypocrisy of Recliner Pilot because he defends Bush's actions that violated due process for American citizens, but expresses outrage when Obama does it. My whole point was to point out the hypocrisy. Yes. Bush sucked. However, when he was in office, his treatment of suspected terrorists was not one of the things I disliked about him. And as far as I can tell, IGW and MDC were against these occurrences when Bush was in office, and they have also been critical of Obama for extending the practices along with the ACLU and liberals across the country who are highly critical of Obama's policies on this front. The only one who changed their entire stance is RP. Which was my entire point and the only reason I posted in this thread in the first place. HTH!

You seem to posting like a Banshee for not caring about any of this. Please show us where I "defended Bush's actions". All I did was point out your examples were not examples of "kidnapping and torture". How is pointing that out, and me not wanting ANY President to have the power to be judge, jury, and executioner of Americans "hypocrisy"?????? Never change my stance at all. You just felt a knee-jerk reaction to defend MDC's unsupportable claims would be a good idea. Hint: It wasn't.

It does NOT help your argument when you invoke him. It sure makes for some funny ass reading though. My views have been entirely consistent on this kind of thing. I hated when Bush did it and I hate that Obama is doing it. It's just hilarious how some people try to rewrite history. Suddenly W was a real champion of human rights who did nothing untoward when it came to the war on terror, but Obama is some horrible awful person who does really mean things!! Truth is this sh!t's been going on for years. Clinton did extraordinary renditions. W took it to the next level with torture, Guantanamo Bay, and Abu Ghraib. Obama won't do torture but Gitmo's still there and he's apparently OK with targeted killings of American combatants with no due process or oversight. The sad thing is that we've lost all claim to being some champion of human rights. It's not W or Obama, it's BOTH, and others before them. And you guys are such focking hypocrites. I wish you were against human rights abuses in the name of the war on terror, I really do. Maybe then we could take steps to make sure no American president engages in such behavior--not Obama and nobody after Obama. But it won't happen, because as soon as another R is in the Whitehouse you and RP and all the rest of your kind will be on your knees sucking the president's cack and talking about how great it is that he's willing to make hard choices to "keep America safe".
