Phurfur 70 Posted February 11, 2013 A black pro-life coalition had its Twitter account shut down after they announced plans on the social networking site to protest the NAACP. Twitter shut us down, said Stephen Broden, a spokesman for the National Black Prolife Coalition and Dallas-area pastor. Their trouble started on Jan. 28 when Leroy Dodd, the groups social media manager, sent out a tweet promoting the demonstration against the NAACP at the Image Awards. We sent out our first tweet at 9:17 a.m., he told Fox News. Eight tweets later we were shut down. Dodd said he received a message from Twitter advising him that he had been suspended. I had to acknowledge I had been reported and I needed to change my behavior, Dodd said. He complied and the suspension was lifted but when he put out another tweet accusing the NAACP of betraying the black community the account was shut down again. By that evening we were completely suspended and we remained suspended for several days, he said. The suspension was finally lifted but only after the day of their planned protest had passed. We suspected that would happen, Dodd said http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/black-conservatives-targeted-on-twitter-facebook.html

jerryskids 7,083 Posted February 11, 2013 So Twitter as an entity speaks for all liberals? Practicing you lawyer skillz? Trying to get me into an RP-like semantic slap fest? IGotWorms 4,063 Posted February 11, 2013 Practicing you lawyer skillz? Trying to get me into an RP-like semantic slap fest? Either way, please don't report me like the freedom-loving liberals on Twitter did. Not at all. I'm just curious how you can take an action by one company and presume that it represents the collective position of an entire political ideology. For the record, I don't agree with this action (assuming the facts are as reported). I also don't have a Twitter account.

FeelingMN 273 Posted February 12, 2013 Liberals support free speech as long as it conforms to their beliefs. When MensaMind was banned from this joint, there were folks here who insinuated that certain geeks from a different political perspective reported him and got him the hammer. But that's bullsh!t cause if you read what that guy posted, he was taking his posts a bit too far. I don't have Twitter, so I really don't know how an account is suspended. But judging from how quickly the "discussions" around here get out of control, I could see this group going a bit too far....they're pro-life so maybe there was a barrage of baby killer and murderer tweets. Just a guess cause I doubt this group is the only pro-life contingency on Twitter.....and I doubt all pro-lifers have been banned.

I'm no Twitter expert, but my understanding is that you can report "offensive" tweets. Obviously we don't know what exactly was tweeted, but I read stuff like: but when he put out another tweet accusing the NAACP of betraying the black community – the account was shut down again. presuming this is true, it is hard for me to think of what could have been said in a single tweet to warrant suspension. I've seen some pretty offensive tweets. Anything is possible, but it seems more likely that it was some combination of (1) tweeters not liking the message, and/or (2) Twitter pulling a quick ban hammer. nikki2200 4 Posted February 12, 2013 This is extremely common on twitter. If you are reported by enough users, your account is automatically suspended. It's a safeguard against spam. So groups of people that don't like someone all report the tweets of that user and their account gets suspended. I've seen it happen with people having twitter wars over reality show contestants. Then you have to contact twitter and they re-activate your account. Twitter should do something about it (i.e. actually ban the people who report people when they haven't done anything in violation of the rules). But twitter is not conspiring against black republicans. LMFAO. :tinfoilhat: Miller Genuine Draft

There were enough libs pixxed off enough because this black person dared to stray from the reservation that they reported him and had his account deleted. Good job confirming the old adage that Libs love free speech as long as you agree with them.

nikki2200 4 Posted February 12, 2013 That's interesting. The article states there was a required admission of wrongdoing that is a different wrinkle than the autoban you describe They have some blanket form you have to fill out where you promise to abide by their rules and you won't misuse twitter anymore that you submit to them and your account gets unbanned. I got suspended for a situation exactly like this. I tweeted something calling Danielle Murphree from Big Brother 14 a liar, her fans didn't like it, a group of them reported me and my account got suspended. Based on what I submitted, I highly doubt Twitter even looks at the suspensions or the requests to become unsuspended. And I highly doubt that it would be a worthwhile area to invest money into. There isn't some great twitter god residing in the sky that reads every tweet and moderates the entire interwebs.

Good job confirming the old adage that Libs love free speech as long as you agree with them. It doesn't take a whole lot. I have a feeling it has to do with the time period in which it happens. From what I've seen it only takes about 20 people to report you in a very short period of time before the suspension happens. 20 people, all libs in all of the US, same difference. I've never made it a secret that I am obsessed with Big Brother. As for the tweeting, I created an account this summer because there were all these antics going on on twitter and the message board I post on was making a game out of tweeting things to see how mad we could make her crazy catlady fans and we even had little predictions on how long it would take for our accounts to get suspended and blocked. Kinda like having some sort of board war with FBG. Or sitting on the interwebs for 12 hours a day calling grown men Corky. To each their own.

Dude started "making promises" to kick the sh!t out of folks....I think FrankM and MDC primarily. He took a little vacation but has since returned and really doesn't mix it up anymore. If I remember correctly he was telling someone (maybe Frank M) that he was going to rub his face into the gravel until bone was exposed. And basically making threats that he was going to come find that person in the town he lived to do so. Not in a joking way. In a hysterical like "this dude may be serious" kind of way. I really don't remember there being a controversy over his banning though. But I probably underestimate the capacity of the brain trust here to start screaming "liberal conspiracy". I liked Mensa in a weird love/hate way. He could at least hold an intelligent conversation about issues that didn't consist of "Corky " even though he was stubborn as hell and frustrating.
