NYFG 2 Posted September 25, 2013 Sure the Giants D has been up against the likes of Peyton Manning, Romo, and Cam, and the Giants D is a mess..Looks like Alex Smith could follow the trend against the Giants D...Thoughts ?
ynotu 0 Posted September 25, 2013 No. He was suppose to be a sneaky good start against Philly as well, but it depends on what you are expecting. If you are happy with 200 yards, 25 yards rushing, 1 TD and 0 INT for about 15 points he is your guy.

edjr 6,586 Posted September 25, 2013 Maybe he'll throw a pass longer than 6 yards? He blows.
truebigdog 0 Posted September 25, 2013 Unless your league penalizes 10 points for INTs with all other settings standard OR you get bonus points for balls thrown within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, he shouldn't be on rosters in a 12 team league (and this is coming from a Chiefs fan)
LouisC9999 3 Posted September 25, 2013 I picked him up as a "sneaky good start" for the Philly game and had to PAINFULLY endure the game-long dink-and-dunkfest (and I had Bowe in another league) Never again...
Skinny_Bastard 157 Posted September 25, 2013 I would start Alex Smith over Cutler. The Detriot Lions pass d have been stout.
truebigdog 0 Posted September 25, 2013 I would start Alex Smith over Cutler. The Detriot Lions pass d have been stout. #18 in the league in yards allowed is stout? #15 in completion %? They haven't exactly played a murderer's row of QB's either against Minnesota, Arizona, and Washington

BingoBrown 8 Posted September 25, 2013 No. He was suppose to be a sneaky good start against Philly as well, but it depends on what you are expecting. If you are happy with 200 yards, 25 yards rushing, 1 TD and 0 INT for about 15 points he is your guy. That was a Thursday game. Vick was junk too (only 1.9 pts more than A. Smith in my league). I know people hate Smith as an NFL QB, with his weak arm and unwillingness to throw more than 10 yards down the field, but he clearly has value in Andy Reid's pass heavy offense. It won't look pretty, but a solid mid-teens to high-teens fantasy output is decent. He's a perfectly fine QB2 in 2 QB leagues, and a worthy fill-in for bye weeks in 1 QB leagues. I expect solid numbers this week against the reeling Giants.
Runningriot1966 6 Posted September 25, 2013 The best thing about Smith is he wins because he doesn't kill his teams chances with dumb plays. He sux for fantasy but he is a pretty darn good real world QB. Us fantasy guys are addicted to the running QB that puts up fantasy numbers but look at how they fare record wise in the real football world. Real world the QB needs to be a great passer and the RB needs to run the football when needed, that formula has been proven to win championships year in and year out. LaChup 233 Posted September 25, 2013 If you guys keep talking about him on this thread, he won't be sneaky anymore. I was going to wait until the last minute before game time and put him in my lineup and say, "take that!" The other owner wouldn't have known what to do. Now my cover has been blown. He may be a good start, just not sneaky.

Antiramie 50 Posted September 26, 2013 Far worse QBs/offenses have gotten their teams to the Superbowl than Alex Smith.
HHerbs 0 Posted September 26, 2013 Here's a sneaky play...EJ Manuel. I would start both him and Smith over Cutler this week. Baltimore's defense has played well the last two games. That week one game vs Peyton Manning was an anomaly. They just shut down a pretty good Texans offense. EJ better be ready, and if they don't get a running game going (which Foster and Tate couldn't do,) I don't think he'll be too successful.

Buffalo has played 3 top ten defenses (granted, it's early...but none of them are slouches) in those weeks and is still 14th in offensive yards/game. I don't see Baltimore changing that. Houston is not the offense they were last year. And the Browns plain suck.

highsider5 36 Posted September 26, 2013 it's tough to call anyone a bad start against the giants today, they seem to be spiraling at the moment... I'm sure they will find a bounce back game, maybe the sneaky play is who will get rolled by the giants getting them back on track. in this discussion, A Smith is a valid candidate to debate, will he right the ship for the Gmen

murf74 461 Posted September 29, 2013 The Giants made him look like a top 10 QB today... not sure but that may be his FF ranking for the season..... There is a lot of Alex Smith bias going on round here
JT 137 Posted September 29, 2013 I think Smith is solid given the right matchup. That said, any QB vs the Giants is no longer a "sneaky" play.
