OK, I will START the official weekly WW PU's on Monday with out fail... lets start

Recommended Posts

I don't get the talk that if you pickup Marvin Jones you are just chasing stats.

Nobody picking him up is expecting anything close to the 4 TDs.

But his past 3 weeks of production now?

3-71-1TD against Buf

4-57-1TD against Det

then

8-122-4TDs against the jets.

This is not some one week wonder people are picking up.

There is obvious risk of what he did against NE, Pitt, or Chicago...but he has put together 4 solid games out of the 7. At this point in a season with what is out there and bye weeks...not exactly a terrible track record to go after.

I agree. Marvin Jones has always had the talent, but he faced two obstacles.

First, he was drafted in the 4th round the same year Sanu was drafted in the second round. So the pecking order was established initially based on who Cincinati's management had more invested in. (The better organizations like NE and GB don't place much importance to that, but others unfortunately do.) Sanu is strictly a decent possession receiver while Jones can beat coverage long and has always been a crisp route runner.

Secondly, Dalton has always only had eyes downfield for Green, and that was to the detriment of the offense. Dalton was primarily a AJ Green first read guy and then check down underneath. After 3 breakout games in a row, Marvin has finally gained Dalton's confidence as well as the confidence of the OC as a second downfield option.

So I don't see this as a fluke but rather I expect continued good production from Jones, along with a few clinkers along the way like any other veteran receiver.

Each week I grab the best player off the WW that I can, even if its not a position of need if they are better than my worst bench player. My team has been really solid thru my draft and a few trades and I haven't had a need with the exception DEF and K and TE. I lost Finely and got lucky and picked up Josh Reed the other week. This week in my opinion the most valued player is Tim Wright, now it doesn't make much sense to grab him when Reed is my starter and I can only play one, also WASH already had their bye. I also have VJAX so that is also a reason to think I don't need having Wright and VJAX. Going back to I don't care about that stuff, its about building your roster with talent when you can. Who know's Reed is already a little gimpy, RG3 is gimpy... I could use either TE for a bargaining chip. We have our waivers tonight, I suspect guys before me will be using their 1st pick on RB, WR and QB... they all look good on TE's even if their TE is on a bye they are good, and just need a one week fill in and it wouldn't be Wright going against SEA... If I don't get wright that's fine. Sorry for the underline, not doing this on purpose... it just doesn't it when I type sometimes... not sure why

I have Heath Miller and Coby Fleener... should I drop one to pick up Tim Wright?

That's a tough one, I love Miller and now Luck may have to lean on Fleener with Wayne out. Then their is Tim Wright same situation as Fleener but Wright will line up as WR more than him, and more than likely be trailing a lot. Maybe trade Fleener and Pick up Wright if you can. If not just stand pat its more of a toss up as far as we know at this point. Just don't throw Fleener or Miller back in the pool.

I'd expect welker + black & decker to see the bump. Seems like TE would be split between Tamme and Dressen. I'd avoid those two unless you're in a really deep league. Pick up a Wright or Cumberland instead

cumby got his bell rung...may not play. Did anyone mention James Starks...may be getting more Carries to save Lacy a bit, plus GB may try to run more than usually with their WR problems and two good RBs

This... And the accuracy of his comments is reminiscent of pin the tail on the donkey.

Snatchy feeding his attention need by blurting anything that comes to his mind out?!?

If you're in shallow bench leagues like me (5 spots) during the bye weeks, see if Vereen is available. Yeah, his name is out there already a bit and in some leagues he's been rostered the whole season but it's worth a peek. If you wait until next week, he'll already be gone.

He practiced today and should be playing Week 11. If Brady's accuracy is still off, this guy will see a ton of targets. IMO he'll be PPR gold. Poor man's Reggie Bush.

Time to update for the successful waiver bids I made in my 6 leagues this week, as well as inform you of some of the higher bids in each league. This is the time of year where it gets interesting because some owners have hoarded their waiver $$ while other owners have their seasonal money mostly spent. Here's where it really pays to look at what each team has left and what their needs are before you place your bids.

Also week nine hit many owners (especially me) very hard in terms of bye week replacements. In my league 6, eight of my ten players on my bench are there on bye this week. So positional necessity over-ruled talent and 'luxury' in the minds of many of us. As a result, i was unable to compete for Marvin Jones in any of my leagues, I did snag Tim Wright in several leagues and in Yahoo leagues ( leagues 1, 2, and 3) he can be used as a WR in addition to a TE. Here are the leagues, which are pretty deep benched, and the activity:

League 1 - 12 team 18 player PPR re-draft: I added Jake Locker for $22, and Tim Wright for $68, dropping Mike Vick and Mike Wiliams respectively. I've got only $68 waiver dollars remaining on my $1000 seasonal budget. High dollar bids in this league were - Marvin Jones, $135; Viniatieri $151 (??); Case Keenum, $176; and Kenny Stills, $212.

League 2 - 12 team 17 player PPR re-draft:: This is my only priority waiver league - all of the others are all FAAB - free agent blind bid leagues. i was only able to acquire Alex Smith requiring me to drop Mike Tolbert, and swap out Mike Nugent for Garrett Hartley.

League 3 - Deep keeper 12 team 16 player rosters PPR: witha much larger remaining budget, I picked up Bolden for $102, dropping my plug and play from the week before, Lance Moore. I also picked up Tim Wright in this league, this time for $102, dropping Emanuel Sanders. I've still got $378 left of my original $1000. The only other bids over $100 in this league were Marvin Jones at $200 and Kenny Stills who went for $252.

League 4 - 12 team, roster 20 (plus devy squad and IR) PPR: i re-acquired the unpredictable Ted Ginn (this is a return yardage league) for $103, dropping Ogbonnaya; and Lance Kendricks for $41 (with J Thomas on bye, this was the best plug and play I could get). I dropped Owen Daniels, since i already have the maximum of two players on IR. I've got about $70 of my $1000 budget left for spending. The only other bid over $100 was for David Nelson, who went for $150 in this extremely deep dynasty league.

League 5 - 12 team roster 22 PPR: I made only one waiver pick-up in this league this week to cover for Peyton Manning's bye, and that was Nick Foles for $6 ((against my $100 season budget. i again dropped OGbonnaya. I've now spent $74 of my $100 total budget. High bids by others were $32 for Mike Brown, and $17 for Dexter McCluster.

League 6: - 10 team Std scoring deep keeper with 20 player rosters: I acquired Tim Wright for only $51.50, dropping Stephen Hill; and Donald Brown for $39, giving up Bernard Pierce. I've got to be frugal as I've ony got $40.50 left to spend out of my initial $1000. Many owners are in the same predicament, and the only other bid of any consequence was $41 for James Starks.

That's the waiver bid report for week 9. i hope this info is helpful to those of you in Blind Bid Waiver leagues.

Picked up McCluster since Welker, Blackmon, and Shorts are on bye. Hoping Mr. Dink and Dunk continues dumping it off to this guy for one more week.

Any specific reasoning behind dropping Hartley in favor of Nugent? Attempting to ride the hot handed ginger, or just hoping Miami keeps giving up tons of field goals? Or both.

Two reasons:

First, since this is my only priority waiver system followed by FCFS, I picked him up during the FCFS period - so I didn't affect my priority (and with my season record, I'll be low priority the rest of the way out, hopefully.)

Secondly - LOL - I don't really pay that much attention to kickers, unless it is a bye week situation. I had my kickers and teams confused, and was thinking that Nugent was on a bye week. Nice catch by you and crappy team management by yours truly!

EDIT: After looking at it more closely though, i really think that Hartley is a better play anyway this week.

My bad - all blind bid waiver leagues except for league 5 have a $1000 annual annual waiver budget. League 5 has the $100 annual budget.. Thanks for the proofread, unclemercy. Corrections have been made and bolded. My keyboard skills are not what they used to be, I'm afraid.

BTW, since you are a veteran of this bored, i was really hoping to see more real fantasy football content by you here this year. i know you have the fantasy football experience to make a positive difference to new members who are looking for solid advice from this place.

Just a couple of late adds:

In one dynasty league, I added Ace Sanders and dropped the HOU D/ST after the news about Blackmon.

I also added M Crabtree in my 12 team 17 player re-draft league, dropping E Sanders . I'm guessing about week 13 is when we'll see Crabtree on the field. Just in time to get in game shape before the play-offs.

Finally, I also actually studied the kicker situation a bit more closely this week, and I decided to stream in Forbath instead of M Bryant in a couple of leagues.
