The Iran deal

Recommended Posts

I'm not surprised some of you guys have totally missed what's going on here as you have proven time and again that you are incapable of understanding nuance. Many people in Iran, especially the younger generation, do not really like what is going on in that country and think that they should work with, not against, the West. They also want more personal freedoms and the like. So when those sorts of people are cheering the result, it is not necessarily a bad thing.

But the RPs and Phurfurs of the world can't see that because anything Iran = automatically bad in their view. They don't even hesitate to ask themselves whether any nation could really be made up 100% of bad people.

I never said Iran was 100% bad people. That's just a lie by you.

A few years back the good people of Iran were pretty organized and could have overthrown the Mullahs with a little help from the U.S.

Obama chose to sit on his thumb instead.

Next?

And you think it's the U.S.'s role to help them. How's it going in Libya and Egypt?

I'll send a nuanced cheer them from the sidelines.

Whenever Worms is getting his ass kicked he  'You guys just don't understand nuance!!!"

You should teach him that the proper way to proceed is to claim the other guy is on 'tilt' and then post the ole' fishing line.

I ain't getting my ass kicked on anything here. Just thought I'd take a moment to try to educate you on what's going on with the young and educated in Iran but as usual you aren't interesting in actually knowing anything.

I was well aware of what is going on with the young and educated in Iran.

Too bad Obama wasn't a few years ago when they were close to being able to topple the terrorist supporters he just gave $7 Billion to.

Sure would be terrible having folks friendly to the U.S. in charge over there.

Good thing the Mullahs are still running things.

Yeah, because we know how well it's worked when we've gotten behind regime change in the Middle East before.

I don't endorse turning it over to the mooslim brotherhood. Leading from behind/going backwards wouldn't be the strategery I would endorse.

You favor regime overthrow over diplomacy. You have no idea what would happen in that case, so you don't really even know what you're endorsing.

I am quite sure that these negotiations are well thought of fundie pockets of Tehran.

8 Billion (on top of table and God knows what under) is paying for UN inspectors going in the front door while our CIA sneaks in the back. If you do not think it's a regime change, you are absolutely clueless.

In the case of Iran, the world's #1 supporter of terror, I support regime change. Can't get any worse, and there is a sizeable population in the country that is pro-western civilization. It's not like we are going from someone who was our puppet for decades to the mooslim brotherhood.

Diplomacy with the mullahs is a joke. They are already out there bragging about how the cleaned our clock in this deal, and how they will never give an inch on their nuclear ambitions. Meanwhile, Obama is sending them billions.

Yes it can.

This is the same sh1t that people were saying about getting rid of Saddam Hussein. People were ready for regime change, so removing him would be the first step towards bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq. 4500 American lives and over a trillion dollars later, it's a giant sh1thole still, essentially run by Al-Maliki as a dictator.

It's a distinct possibility that the same would happen in Iran. Sure, pro-western revolutionaries could bring a flowering democracy for the first time ever in a muslim country, but the likelihood is that even if the mullahs are overthrown, the country will descend into chaos, only now it is a country on the verge of a nuclear weapon, or at the very least, on the verge of having all the components for one.

That is more dangerous than trying to encourage the more moderate elements in Iran through diplomacy.

Yes it can.

How?

Obama is giving $7 billion and lifting sanctions on a regime that is the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world, and getting nothing that will slow them down from getting nukes to hand out to terrorists.

What, in your opinion, would be worst than that?

I've taken a close look at this Iran deal and think it's a good deal. You've got inspectors all up in there and they've shutdown and disconnected their reactors for six months. See what they do for the next six months. Hopefully the nuclear physicists find new jobs.

Working out well for Obama in Iran.

Then, I have even more optimism in that I heard the Afghans were sh*tcanning the agreement they struck with Obama about extending US troops in their sh*thole. Best take them up on it before they change their minds again and GTFO of there in 2014. Could be an accidental win for US foreign policy over Obama's judgment like the called-off Syria invasion and the failed negotiation to maintain US troops as terrorist target practice in Iraq were.

In the end it doesn't matter if he scores no points for grace, Obama has bumbled into good pollcy by accident and the final result has been positive twice, maybe soon three times.

You got this from some tweet?

It's live video of Trump saying exactly the thing I just posted he said, so to answer your question I got it from Trump.

I'd post the transcript but the White House has pulled all transcripts of Trump statements now.
