MDC 7,888 Posted September 26, 2014 I blame religion because it's way more convenient than blaming a million years of biology. I blame women's lib for making women successful enough career wise that they have options outside of abusive or loveless marriages.
KSB2424 3,173 Posted September 26, 2014 Count me in the group, not that TBBOM should care, of the folks that think people get Divorced way to easily these days and the general public is too flippant about Marriage and what it means. With that said, from what I've read on this site, TBBOM doesn't fall into that category. Divorce should be a last resort, and it appears in this case it was. Good Luck to you sir, breaking up sucks big donkey balls, but time heals all wounds. Keep your head up, stay positive and focus on things that make you happy. Then and only then will you maybe find somebody who you can share it with again.

I agree, but unfortunately for this discussion, BudBro presented the argument as a biblical position, so people are caught up in that part. While that may be an accurate biblical interpretation, I don't think you have to be religious to believe that what you described is hurting our society. And the reason I don't think so is because I'm not religious and I believe that.
BudBro 183 Posted September 27, 2014 With that said, from what I've read on this site, TBBOM doesn't fall into that category. Divorce should be a last resort, and it appears in this case it was. with what i have read, i totally agree with your assessment, and i believe tbbom cares greatly about his marriage...and yes, this is likely a last resort. i believe i said something similar to that, but i'm sure it got lost in the hysterics over the bible. btw, i didn't write the bible. john the baptist was beheaded over talking about divorce. it's a delicate subject matter. I agree, but unfortunately for this discussion, BudBro presented the argument as a biblical position, so people are caught up in that part. While that may be an accurate biblical interpretation, I don't think you have to be religious to believe that what you described is hurting our society. And the reason I don't think so is because I'm not religious and I believe that. ksb said people don't know what marriage means in this society and are flippant about it. so, let's get away from "biblical" stuff since that scares everyone. nobody gets married anywhere in the history of the world without hearing or learning about covenant. it's more than a contract, and more than an agreement. whether one is religious or not, every society views covenant as "sacred", an unbreakable promise that the other person can count upon. in a covenant, you swear to the other person that you will give your life if you break the covenant, and they promise the same. covenants are still made today outside of marriage covenants. that's what blood brotherhood is about all over the world. they would cut their skin and mix their blood in water, then grasp hands and drink the blood in the presence of witnesses, and they would share a meal and exchange reminders, so as not to forget. it doesn't have to be a religious setting from a "christian" marriage standpoint. the marriage ceremony has the same covenant meaning; by holding hands, swearing a vow to forsake all others, exchanging reminders (rings), sharing a meal (cake), in front of witnesses. all those witnesses are to hold each party to the covenant, that's what witnesses do. biblically, marriage is designed to reflect the relationship christ has with the church, his bride. happy new year, if there are any jewish geeks. the shofar is the call to the wedding. daniel 9 tells, to the day, when messiah was acknowledged upon his entry to jerusalem, and was then cut off. Magnificent Bastard 192 Posted September 27, 2014 Most marriages that I know where the woman is in charge of the money have problems. Some are just money problems, but that is a major stress inducer.
wiffleball 4,797 Posted September 28, 2014 you know we have all been friends for a long time. I just got done talking to Julie. Stop trying to play yourself off as the victim. She's free and clear that you brought this on yourself and I don't blame her.
