yeah--big difference between this and AP, i think. corporal punishment is a way of life for a lot of people, who learn it from their parents.

 

do i think AP took it too far? probably. but that's the kind of thing a guy can learn from. hardy's case is a lot more bothersome for me--it points out internal problems.

That's a really good piece, and it hits the nail on the head. Not many of us old timers who watched Martin's career didn't love and cheer for him. Rafael Septien's name also comes to mind - and his charges involved a 10 year-old girl.

* Hardy is the one who actually called the police - he was the one asking for assistance.

* According to Hardy - the gf was attacking and hitting him, thus why he called - he wanted her out.

* The judge who originally convicted Hardy did so based on her testimony and the fact the judge did not believe Hardy's story.

* Hardy then requests a jury trial.

* The accuser never showed up for trial.

 

* The accuser also admitted to being high on cocaine and alcohol at the time of the incident.

Its definitely possible she is just some crazy bltch. I worked with a dude who had a crazy wife. She took a pop can and held it up to her eye, then smashed her face into the counter. It left a perfectly round bruise on her face so the judge tossed it out, but he spent a night in jail for it.

Agreed - especially when you factor into it that she was coked up and drunk, and he is the one who actually called the police.... It's the reason I wanted to know if there is a history of this associated with Hardy, or was this a one time incident....? A history would certainly add credence to the accuser's claim - but no history would lead one to believe she is nothing more than a spaced out junkie.

You know he may very well be - I'm not saying he's not... What I am saying is that there is no history or reports of him beating women in the past. What I do know is the first woman to ever claim this was high on cocaine and booze at the time of the incident... Some of his former teammates said Hardy does have a screw or two loose, for sure. But they also said they never saw or heard of him smacking women around or tossing them across rooms.

 

He sounds like a modern version of Charles Haley - that dude was a bona fide nut case with many screws loose, but he wasn't a criminal. I guess time will tell. The fact Hardy took a 1 year deal suggests he's serious about getting his shiat together with something to prove to everyone.

It's easy to hate 'america's team' and in many respects DAL is the NFL equivalent to MLB Yankees. Add in a nice cocktail of Jerrah, his son, and the rest of the advisers and we're happy to heap hate on the boys for being diks like they always were.

yeah--per BtB, ~$9M of the deal is per-game based, which is obviously targeted at minimizing the effect of a suspension. rumors are 4-6 games, which would knock a couple of million off.

 

still very uncomfortable with this move. team is better on the field, but the rest of it is troubling. i want to trust garrett, and i understand that there are other versions of hardy's story, but it's still not something i like attached to the cowboys.

It was an asskicking. Beating a Sanchez led team with horrible defense is a major accomplishment. Congrats. Also, can't wait to see weeden run this team next season. Romo won't survive the year.
