Reality 2,710 Posted July 31, 2015 Seattle and its quarterback agreed to a four-year, $87.6 million extension Friday morning, FOX Sports 1 NFL insider Mike Garafolo has confirmed. Sports Illustrated was the first to report the deal, which came hours before a deadline both sides had set to come to an agreement. Without a new contract, Wilson would have reported to camp Friday playing for just $1.5 million this season. Garafolo reports that Wilson, 26, had been asking for $25 million per year earlier this week. Falling short of that, Wilson still took to Twitter to express his joy about the signing. http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/report-seahawks-russell-wilson-agree-to-mega-extension-073115 Good signing, numbers wise, for the rest of the NFC West. Prepare to see an exodus on the defensive side of the ball.
Groundhog 24 Posted July 31, 2015 http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/report-seahawks-russell-wilson-agree-to-mega-extension-073115 Good signing, numbers wise, for the rest of the NFC West. Prepare to see an exodus on the defensive side of the ball. Some guys, sure. But not the key ones. Irvin is in the last year of his contract and someone else can have him - he's not worth an estimated $8m-$10m a year. We can turn him into a FA signing somewhere else that yields a bonus 3rd or 4th rd pick in the 2017 draft, just like Maxwell will be in the 2016 draft. Before this signing, Hawks had $38m in cap space for next year. Let's say his cap hit is roughly, what - $22m? Still a decent amount of space to sign Wagner. He's the next key guy. Chancellor might get a little money front-loaded into give-it-now bonus instead of salary, like they did with Lynch. Not a huge cap hit beyond what's already on the books. Actually the wildcard here is probably Okung. He plays a premium position but he's injured a lot. Max Unger was a premium center, regularly hurt - they turned him into Jimmy Graham. So it would not shock me if we lost Okung in 2016.

We had to twist his arm and throw money at him to come back. I think he'll hang it up after this year. I think the big wildcard is maybe needing a starting RB. But on the flip side. Whenever Lynch does go. It's an extra 12 mil a year in our pocket.

Sounds like he's going to play hardball. Also, agree with above. Good signing, they had to keep him in Seattle imo.

Ray_T 597 Posted July 31, 2015 Wow, does he ever get paid. I always question whether any pro athlete is truly worth that kind of cash, but I do hope he's worth it.

I was hopeful we could keep him for 7-8 million. His market is most likely 10. So I guess he might want his full projected top LB worth. That doesn't price seattle out of the equasion. I'm sure it would tick him off. But he's also franchise tag worthy. So Wagner definitely won't be going anywher else soon.
tanatastic 2,061 Posted July 31, 2015 Great signing for an elite QB. He is worth every penny. For sure. I was cautious after his rookie year but he proved to me hes not just riding MArshawn and the defense. The guy has put up killer fantasy stats and made some amazing throws with completely JAG wrs. tanatastic 2,061 Posted August 1, 2015 Amazing he avoided any criticism for superbowl choke. Like the guy though a lot He avoided it for a few reasons. 1. Herculean feat of a young qb making it to back to back SB. 2. Amazing comeback vs my beloved packers the game before. 3. Losing to Tom and the Cheatriots was no upset so he gets a participation award. 4. Carroll made the playcall and took 100% of the heat wich is deserved. If im marshawn im threatening to quit unless I get that ball.
