patweisers44 701 Posted May 25, 2017 No, just trying to have a discussion.. off top of my head I can name several, but not many post-75 Gotcha. I cant imagine there are too many, especially HOF type guys that would even attempt to pitch anymore.

Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted May 25, 2017 Technically, there are others since you phrased it as "MLB Hall of Fame Batters". Pitchers are periodically batters (more in the NL), so I think that you mean "Position Players". HTH. GFY.

Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted May 25, 2017 How many of those pitchers are in the HOF because of their "batting" I would hope that none of them are. Not all position players are in the HOF for their batting only.

Defense does matter, but harder to quantify. Ozzie Smith being in the HOF is a joke
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted May 25, 2017 the few that are, shouldn't be there. Defense does matter, but harder to quantify. Ozzie Smith being in the HOF is a joke but there are guys who were borderline hitters that were good fielders and/or good base runners and it certainly helps their HOF credentials.
