Dsausage 36 Posted September 18, 2017 With Gronk, Graham and Olsen going down, Eifert struggling and injury prone and Jordan Reed most likely out soon, there is a major void at the tight end position. Having a guy like Kelce week in and out going forward will be a major advantage. I may adjust draft strategy next year. In other news Gerald Everett looks really good. I am going to pay through nose to get him this week

I am going to pay through nose to get him this week Hunter Henry was dropped after week one in my league. Given what dsausage says, would you say he's a must add this week? and if so, what do some of you project? and what impact Gates will have?
jgcrawfish 232 Posted September 18, 2017 Henry was dropped in one of my leagues also and he's my #1 add, because Austin Hooper and his 2 targets a game isn't going to cut it. At this point. any guy getting 5 catches a game is a decent option in the TE wasteland. Your logic on Kelce is backwards. Dude is a beast, but Gronk, Eifert, Graham and Olsen were beasts as well and now two are hurt and two aren't performing well. It could just as easily be Kelce injured and this thread could be about Olsen... Bottom line is, none of us know what's going to happen...injuries are just part of it. Eh, I read him to mean that if you have any of "the beasts left standing" (like Kelce) you have a huge advantage, at this point. And I read him to mean that having that huge advantage in a position that is as shallow as the TE position seems to be this year warrants at least the consideration of a different draft strategy. And we've known since back to Gates and Gonzo (and earlier) that having one of those top-tier TEs made a big difference. That's why I usually go for two a little earlier: I don't want to be scraping the wire for scraps at TE, I want someone I feel good about starting at any time. [This year I took Kelce in the 5th and Ertz in the 6th for that very reason -- I can start 2 anyway, and I'd feel comfortable starting either at any point.] There's been less clear separation b/w the tier1 & 2 guys in recent years, and of course injuries play a factor, but I'd rather gamble on a 2nd potential top-10 TE in the middle rounds of a draft than on a WR4 or RB4 that I could probably get the equivalent of a round or two down the board, if not off the wire. The question, when you distill it down, is then: should you draft TEs differently to help secure a top5-10 prospect and/or ensure a start-worthy player in case of injury? American Chewy 98 Posted September 18, 2017 This is the first yr in a while I didn't take a te early and I'm glad I didnt. Felt like a deeper class this yr and the high end guys didn't fill me with any confidence that they would pay off.
edjr 5,585 Posted September 18, 2017 I have Kelce, The Red Nosed Reindeer and Everett (dynasty league)

Scarcity of the studs at that position causes their value to be elevated, but at the same time hurts you so much more when you lose one of them. I found the wording odd, was sort of a "these guys are getting hurt so I should change my draft strategy and get one earlier" kind of feel.
Kent 228 Posted September 18, 2017 Henry was dropped last week and I picked him up. Is Henry now a top 7 TE with all the injuries?

weepaws 2,469 Posted September 18, 2017 I can see Henry as a top seven te based on injuries. Graham is now listed as questionable.
stonewall 647 Posted September 18, 2017 Drafted Ertz in all 4 leagues (and Gronk in one when he fell to 3.1....but insured him with Ertz). Hoping he can stay healthy, and that the TD's come.
