HTH 67 Posted December 29, 2019 It seems that every year we have a light string go out. VERY annoying as we put alot of effort into setting up the tree each year. (see pics) Can anyone recommend a good light brand/type? Are leds better than incandescent? Any help would be greatly appreciated! And Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Fireballer 2,391 Posted December 29, 2019 Everything is cheapo chinese crap. LEDs seem to be more reliable. But, many light issues can be fixed with this. Its saved me from trashing many light sets and obviously having to un-decorate to change a light strand. https://www.walmart.com/ip/LightKeeper-Pro-Incandescent-Light-Set-Repair-Tool/22071313

I've tried that several times and it didn't work. I think I might need to go with LED's. What should be the light count? 25? 50? 100? More? TIA

fandandy 3,311 Posted December 29, 2019 I bought a tree for the store last year before Christmas. We put it together this year and the same thing has happened but not quite as noticeable as yours. It pisses me off though, it's like a year old and the lights are the type that they don't even look replaceable. Everything is made so crappy anymore. Thanks, China.

KayJay1971 238 Posted December 31, 2019 Replace all the strands each year. They aren't very expensive. What is your time worth to troubleshoot this issue each year?
