Utilit99 4,099 Posted April 24, 2020 I don't care about the name. I've been to Morton's a bunch of times, if Ruthies is as good, I'll go there. Yummmm..

Went to a Morton's once. Wasn't impressed, and it was even more pricey than Ruth's Chris.

I usually like to cook my own steaks these days and go out for things that I don't know how to make or don't want to take the time to prepare. It's funny the change I went through. I used to think seafood restaurants were a waste of money, and steak houses were worth it. Then later in life I switched it up. I don't cook seafood much, but love going out for it. My GF and I usually drive to RI once a year for place we like to go to along with taking a seafood trip up the coast into Maine. We also hit Baltimore at the end of the summer for crab cakes etc....And hit D.C. every year or two for a couple places we like a lot. But every now and then, a great steak place is quite alright. We have three steak houses we like a lot. Funny enough, they're all chains. 1) Outback. It's not in the same league as the other two but it's the closest of a mainstream chain, and it's a lot cheaper. Good value. 2/3 Ruth's Chris and Del Friscos. Both high end chains but find both to have great steaks.
KayJay1971 239 Posted April 24, 2020 Forbes Mill is also good here in the Bay Area. Not sure if it is a chain or not. But probably the best experience I have had in a steak house was at Charlie Palmer's in Las Vegas. The staff went way over the top to make sure we were well taken care of. Where in Vegas is it?

If it was so iconic that she didn't want to change the name, she didn't have to add her own name to it. And if she did have to do that, once they started expanding to other states that have never heard of Chris Steak House, then she could have changed it. Yeah, because it held them back. Bill E. 703 Posted April 25, 2020 I always thought chris was a type of steak or a way of cooking it, I never gave it a thought. They are great though. I remember in the 90's a coworker and I were in Pittsburgh for an Microsoft class. Ruth's was between our hotel and the training center which we would walk to so we did not have to find parking. We went to Ruth's every night for dinner Sun-Thurs and for lunch on Friday since we finished the class early. When I turned in my expense report my boss said "We do not pay for alcohol". When I showed him the receipts for a $35 fillet plus sides and desert every night he about lost it. They paid it but were not happy about it. I do not remember how high the bill was but looking back they should have told me to fock off. I think the fact that we were the only MCSE's at the time saved us.
