if you haven’t already picked up Mckissic (esp if you’re in a ppr league), do it now.

I have McKissick and am glad to have him but, how does Washington looking for another back to backup Gibson help out McKissick? Unless you think Gibson is done for a while?

Because the guys they are trying out are not good. If they sign one that guy will likely be backup. Mckissic would be the RB to own especially in ppr.
gibson is practicing though so we’ll see. But No way his shin holds up all year. Mckissic’s time will come.

Yeah...Patterson:

Engel is also strongly recommending Washington Football Team running back Jaret Patterson. An undrafted free agent in 2021, Patterson impressed the team in the preseason and is in line for more work if Antonio Gibson goes down at any point soon. That is very possible, as Gibson has been playing through a shin injury and he has carried more than 14 times just once since Week 1.

Gibson is working through a painful condition and is in danger of being put out of action at any time. If he is shelved, J.D. McKissic would not become the primary ball carrier, as he is more of a pass-catching specialist. Patterson, who rushed for 71 yards and a TD on 16 attempts in Week 2 of the preseason, should be expected to become the lead inside runner and goal-line option in such a situation.

With that said, I would trust Mckissic more than Patterson.

That’s the best move, but if one has to trust one of them, it would be Mckissic.

Agree.

I have no reason to doubt that Patterson would come in and run some on early downs. He would. But I have plenty of reason to think (because of his past usage and skill set and trust from the coaches) that McKissic will see an expanded role. My rec for McKissic is mostly for those of us in ppr leagues (full point esp). Any increase in his use because of a Gibson injury will make his ppr floor very high. He can easily catch 5-6 passes for ~60 yards (~12 ppr fantasy pts right there) plus his rushing yards. HIs floor might be around 15 points per week, with much higher upside. He'll be like Edmonds for Arizona, but with redzone work. I think he's an automatic top 20 ppr RB, so at the worst an RB2 in 10-team leagues.

Almost. I like Mckissic too but can't compare him to Edmonds who is on an explosive offense that is winning games. My logic for Mckissic getting more work is simply because I expect WFT to play from behind for most of the rest of the season. That would equate to more passing opportunities. Even if Gibson plays thru his injury, they'll most likely limit his snaps.

If Fitzpatrick comes back he goes from check down Charlie to a guy that doesn’t check down much.

Fitzpatrick played in seven games with Gaskin last season, and Gaskin avg 7 targets per game , that would be 34 total, just Incase one doesn’t understand avg.

Clearly you don’t as 7x7=49…

Yes indeed , you did catch my error, that would be roughly 5 per game, for those that still don’t understand how to use avg.

I would say Mckissic would get some looks in the passing game.
