Who's turn is it anyway?

I think Tommy at 4.7. Not sure when I'm up and the snake drafts confuse me lol. Volt didn't list the 5th round yet.

Is the lunch paid for ?

I’m self-employed now, so it’s all the same.

I like being self-employed but as this country (China) gets stupider and stupider, I may want to leave anyway, move to the reddest part of.a red state and do whatever…

I see and guess do what you think is best for your future ? The main thing is what did you have for lunch lol ?

So finally home. I've been reading this thread and have a lot to say, but not had time to reply to things until now. Lunch was a large bowl of $2.50 mutton noodles with as much shredded cabbage as I want to add, and a 50 cent bottle of flower tea.

China is getting incredibly stupid. Whereas the original plan was to keep doing what I'm doing now until I turn 65 then see if any of the three kids want to take over the school, there's been some major changes in how private schools are run here. I don't know if I want to stay here another 15 years (I'm 50). I agree with this guy:

Trust your gut Bro, If it was me I wouldn't want to hang out there for many more years. Flower tea never heard of it and is it good ?

4.7 Hill Street Blues - Drama

5.1 The Phil Donahue Show - Hodgepodge

My GF knows about this draft and she just mentioned both shows a hour ago and good picks. Cool you pick both and will tell her! Also you are right picking first and last and does suck kinda seeing all the picks you wanted to get nab in between.

I know a lot of people don't get the 80s vibe with shows like Seinfeld or The Simpsons, so I'd thought a category like "Into the 90s" might help with shows from the late 80s.

Similarly but with a major difference, on the other end, a lot of shows from the 60s made it into the 70s. 60s shows are likely easier to embrace. As a kid, I saw a ton of re-runs of 60s show and they were a ubiquitous part of growing up in 70s. This 60s shows continued to have a large impact on the 70s and 80s, and the ones that kept producing into the 70s are draft eligible. The late 80s shows left hardly any footprint.

When we first floated the idea for this draft, I'd intended to draft both the late 80s shows and the barely 70s shows as normal. But then these borderline shows took one hit when we voted not to include years as a category. Then they took another hit, as I read some comments from folks. It seems there was going to be some discrimination against shows from other decades that barely, technically qualify. I think that's why folks are shying away from them for safer picks. I included the 'out of the 60s' and the 'into the 90s'  minor categories to be used to neutralize some of that stigma, but that doesn't mean the stigma will go away.

I'm going to guess that people I think are going to be of two minds on this: There are going to be people that see a show like "Seinfeld," love Seinfeld, and give the drafter full credit for the entire run and all it's assorted praise and glory. But then there are going to be people that see this as a 90s show, they'll downgrade them in their minds, which is why Seinfeld wasn't a first round pick. When we draft shows on the cutoff margins, we have no idea so have to guess how many voters will think they're great and how many will thing they're not a good representation of the two decades.

I had a corner in the music draft and have been one off the corner in both the movies and this TV draft. My brain only functions in terms of twos at this point.

Haaa. My Mother had a “Who Shot JR” bumper sticker on her Cougar X-R7.

And I have been sniped every round. Very fun.

I was nine and my brother was four during the suspenseful summer of "who shot JR?"

Well, my brother's first and middle name is "Jeremy Robert", and I was a bit of a pr*ck to him, so as you could imagine I kinda had fun goofing on the poor kid with the whole "Who shot JR" stuff.

They are in the process of taking complete control of education.

1. You know how most training centers have been shut down.

2. All non Chinese owned online companies have been shut down.

3. They recently prohibited sending children abroad to study prior to university. The stated reason? They don't want the western influence.

4. The school I work for has been under intense scrutiny of late. We've had govebrment lackeys up here several times. Apparently, the plan is, in a year or two, the government will employ all foreign teachers, and place them in schools. Thus if you teach here, you work directly for the government.

Of course, the government here being what it is, they failed to notice that the staff is mostly illegal (slavs who are listed as Russian teachers or dance teachers on paper... We don't offer such courses.)

Man... It's past time to go. I'm hoping to find something for us in UAE, Vietnam, Japan, wherever asap.

Since we are discussing stuff  MNF was a great pick and kick myself for not thinking off it but not sure it belongs in Action and should be Hodgepodge in my opinion.

On a side note I have the first MNF game on disc and was a preseason game from 1970 and can you guess the two teams ?

Alright, I'll defer to you guys' better judgement. I wasn't sure to put in in Action or Hodgepodge.

I'd have guessed Minnesota and Dallas, Green Bay had taken a step back, meanwhile Pittsburgh hadn't yet stepped up. Those were the years of Bud Grant's manical defenses and Roger Staubach's Cowboys.

By the time I was old enough to pay attention, in my early memories of football, Terry Bradshaw was a god among men. But my understanding is also that his rookie year was a dumpster fire.

Lol not complaining and just different and think I pick third in the other two drafts. It does suck like Tommy said watching picks go by you wanted. Cool though having two picks in a row. Nature of the Beast lol.

Bradshaw sucked for a few years before light bulb turn on for him or something. Anyways I had a football site where you can download games that none can get and was glad to get the first MNF off of there and don't think many have a copy of that till this day. Again Great pick and I was thinking outside the box and didn't still think of that!

Thanks for the update!

They'll be steady and timely through Friday. I have plenty of time during the week.

I don't have time to do as good a job on weekends, so at first I'd hoped somebody would step up to help. Well, that never happened, but fortunately, it also has never caused a problem. We've always been able to make it through, without issues, and I eventually get it all caught up by Sunday evening anyways. We just need to be willing to tolerate the backed up laundry, unwashed dishes, and unmade bed for a couple of days.

Take your time bro! These drafts wouldn't happen without you and think this one is going good now. I'm Impressed with all the picks so far from all involved!

This was a good one. I had it deep on my list.

You can't think 80s tv without MTV, but it's hard to think one one particular show.

Damnit, it's nearly 11 PM. I'm not going to be able to make my own picks again. :(

I'd like to give my picks to somebody else. I also think I may have TBBOM's pick although I'm not sure.
