My friend's folks got one of the first betamax recorders. We watched the Sampson/Ewing game from a recording. (not sure why we didn't just watch it live, but I remember that as being the first thing I'd ever watched on tape)
Horseman 1,593 Posted September 29, 2022 VHS was for rich kids. Not only when I was a kid, but their entire lives they never had VHS (they passed 3-5 years ago). They never had DVDs, cable tv, computers, internet or cell phones. Our telephone was a party line when I was a kid and even up to their passing they never paid the extra to be able to call long distance.

So they was the first things I watched on them.
