VHS was for rich kids.  Not only when I was a kid, but their entire lives they never had VHS (they passed 3-5 years ago). 

They never had DVDs, cable tv, computers, internet or cell phones.  Our telephone was a party line when I was a kid and even up to their passing they never paid the extra to be able to call long distance.

Cool and my dad rented one of those top loading vcr's around 82 and also rented Jaws & Raiders of the Lost Ark. So they was the first things I watched on them.
