How'd you do? Rosters

Recommended Posts

I like my team a lot this year.  Hopefully I can actually do something with it this time.

C – Alejandro Kirk

1B – Vlad Guerrero Jr

2B – Marcus Semien

SS – Bo Bichette

3B – Matt Chapman

OF – George Springer

OF – Teoscar Hernandez

OF – Lourdes Gurriel Jr

UT – Daulton Varsho

B – Danny Jansen, Brandon Belt, Randall Grichuk

SP – Alek Manoah

SP – Robbie Ray

RP – Jordan Romano

RP – Kendall Graveman

P – Bryan Baker

P – Carl Edwards Jr

P – Chris Bassitt

Other P on bench – Ross Stripling, Jose Berrios, Yusei Kikuchi, Taijuan Walker, Matt Boyd

Bench but will likely start on DL – Liam Hendriks, Daniel Hudson

Got a number of still relevant players exclusive to me but also that I can’t see being drafted.  Anyone need a Catcher let me know.  I might run Varsho at C if he and other bats that aren’t a fulltime C get hot.  The supplemental will certainly be a BPA thought for me.

Can’t say I really had anyone in the draft stolen from me.  Once the order came out I kinda knew who or what I’d miss.  Drury who was exclusive to me until last year going in the 2nd round was step for me to pay for a guy who only once in his 8 years has really prompted for fulltime fantasy roster spot.  While he does qualify at 3 positions it still would have been a bench luxury for me.
So minus Whit and KK I have my entire TOR positional roster.  And for now just missing 1 pitcher so it’s a true homer fix for me as well with a few add-ins.

A lot has to go right for this team to compete, but I did about the best I could.  Projected everyday starting lineup:

C  - Salvador Perez, KC

1B - Vinnie Pasquantino, KC

2B - Whit Merrifield, Tor

SS - Bobby Witt, Jr., KC

3B - Hunter Dozier, KC

OF - M.J. Melendez, KC

OF - Andrew Benintendi, KC

OF - Edward Olivares, KC

Util - Carlos Santana, Pit

Bench: Nicky Lopez, Nick Pratto, Michael Massey, Kyle Isbel, Eric Hosmer, Franmil Reyes

Starting pitching I've got our entire projected lineup, which should consist of Greinke, Lyles, Singer, Lynch and and maybe Yarbrough or Keller

Relievers: I also have rights to every Royals reliever, as I don't think anyone could touch Barlow, Chapman, Coleman, Garrett, Staumont, or Clarke.  I guess bbascom could get Josh Taylor if he wants him, but I'm guessing he's pretty far down his list.

Per usual, my lineup could use some power and/ or pitching in the supplemental.

like my team a lot this year.  Hopefully I can actually do something with it this time.

C – Christian Vazquez

1B – Tristan Casas

2B – Mookie Betts (Love that he is 2B eligible)

SS – Xander Bogaerts

3B – Rafael Devers

OF – Kyle Schwarber

OF – Alex Verdugo

OF – Masataka Yoshida

UT – J.D. Martinez

B – Yoan Moncada (3B), Kike Hernandez (2B/SS/OF), Christian Arroyo (1B/2B/3B/SS/OF)

SP – Chris Sale (SP)

SP – Nathan Eovaldi (SP)

RP – Kenley Jansen (Closer)

RP – Daniel Bard (Closer)

P – John Schreiber (RP)

P – Chris Martin (RP)

P – Jalen Beeks (SP/RP)

Other P on bench – Corey Kluber (SP), Josh Winckowski (SP), Nick Pivetta (SP), Tanner Houck (SP/RP), Kutter Crawford (SP/RP)

Starting/likely starting on the DL – Garrett Whitlock (SP/RP), Drew Pomeranz (RP)

I have a few others that are exclusive and some that aren't, mostly pitchers. A couple other guys starting on the DL that hopefully will play later in the year.

Didn't really have anyone stolen from me this year, I liked my draft spot a lot. The biggest thing for me was getting to pick ahead of RHR so I could still get Bogaerts. I got my top 3 and then Springs was taken. He was definitely next on my list. I was hoping to get either Benintendi or Renfroe as OF depth but it is what it is. I had access to so many relief pitchers I knew I wasn't going to get all of them. Ottavino and Kimbrel were the 2 that I liked the most that I didn't get.

All in all, happy with my draft. SP is probably my weakest position right now but if the rest of my players play up to their expectations I think I will be pretty competitive this year.

Like GB and BB, I still have a fair amount of exclusive players I can fill in that should easily make it through the supplemental.  I knew the dice roll would leave me less than ideal at second base, but if Andrus keeps up his resurgence, I think I'll be happy there.  The Rangers completely retooled their pitching staff this offseason, and it shows.  I was happy to get DeGrom when I figured I'd be getting Darvish, was super high on Springs but couldn't get him and still land Lowe at 1B, and I hoped to land Heaney instead of Perez (but might regret not pulling Fairbanks instead).  I didn't figure I had a shot at Mikolas, Eovaldi, or Herget, and just missed on Kluber, but I think this is the best pitching staff I've had in many seasons.  I think I had two starters ranked in the top 100 SP last draft, and two relievers ranked in the top 100 RP, so I'm excited to make up for last years debacle.

I would say my draft sheet got absolutely demolished over the first few rounds, having to choose between my top 3 players and losing out on Scherzer and deGrom. Before I could even pick again, I lost the next player on my list in Syndergaard. Was able to grab Stroman but also missed Bassitt as well as some guys who I wouldn't have picked in that spot but eventually would have like Baez and Drury. Later on I also lost the likes of Ottavino, Wacha, Quintana, Walker, Lugo and Matz. I guess that's kind of splitting hairs because I really only wanted Wacha and you can't have everyone, haha.

Even though the draft spot sucked, it was nice to get Stroman, d'Arnaud, Justin Turner, Rafael Montero and David Robertson who should all be productive, key pieces for me.

Starting out with a good core of Alonso, Lindor, Marte, Wheeler, Diaz and my pair of exclusives in Cleveland are really helpful with their positional eligibilities.

I won't have Gerrit Cole again or Aaron Judge in a historic season but I like my chances to compete.

idk how some of you guys didn't miss any players... good for you! lol. I missed plenty but to be fair my draft sheet was almost 50/50 by the end... previously years seems much worse than that. I did not get Randy... who I had last season, but I did get Snell and Morton who I did not have last season. Overall I was able to get 4 of my top 5 targets in Snell, Morton, Springs and Fairbanks.

I would love to have either Cron or Nate Lowe but there are guys I know I just won't be able to take... based on where my priorities are. Alex Cobb is a guy I like but being able to draft him is completely dependent on who I take in front of him. If I don't go SP/SP/SP, he becomes a target in the 4th round. Meadows would have been a luxury. the outfielder I really had my eye on was Avi Garcia. I messed that one up.

Other than that... able to get most of the secondary players I cared about as well.... KK, Margot, Bethancourt, Adam, Boxberger, and Isaac Paredes who for some reason I thought was going to be picked by round 3 or 4. I guess he may not see everyday at bats but at 24 years old he showed really good power last season.

I like to leave a lot of later rounds unfilled and keep drafting because the Rays have so many random players floating around out there who are not coveted but can still be really helpful, The exclusives I don't add the the draft threads are not getting picked in the supplemental. If they do....  enjoy.

C - Zunino
1B - Diaz
2B - B. Lowe
SS - Franco
3B - Wendle
OF - Myers
OF - Margot
OF - Kiermaier
U - Adames

B - Wendle, Paredes, Josh Lowe, Bethancourt, Mejia

SP - McClanahan
SP - Snell

RP - Fairbanks
RP - Floro

P - Adam
P - Boxberger
P - Pagan

B/SP - Morton, Springs, Rasmussen, Patino, Glasnow (out)

B/RP - n/a

The Rays are short on star power. Franco, McClanahan, Glasnow once healthy...  Brandon Lowe can be that, Fairbanks could be that if Tampa uses an exclusive closer. He could be right up there with an Edwin Diaz. Josh Lowe may not break camp with the team... and if he does may not have an everyday spot... was he going to be drafted in the supplemental? no but he is the next closest thing the Rays have to a star. They traded away Meadows last season to make room for his 20/20 potential.

What keeps me competitive are the flexible guys who chip in... Yandy Diaz, Wendle, Paredes, Myers has 1B/OF, and the depth. I could rattle off several names right now that will be on and off my roster and will contribute a bunch throughout the season, some of them could have just as easily been put in my drafted spots.

I definitely "lost" on some but when the dice rolled I knew 2 of my top 5 would be gone.  Just had to play it to maximize priority and minimize loss.

Gausman - LOST - no choice.

Stroman - LOST - picked Bassitt

Donaldson - LOST - deferred on him, I have plenty of 3B options

Merrifield - LOST - way too high for me to compete and I got Semien for the slot

Matz - LOST - got Robbie Ray instead

Drury - LOST - too high price for me but also have the positional coverage

Hand, Tepera, Loup, Adam, Castro, Hutchinson - LOST - matter of choice and available for the RP

Kiermaier - LOST - picked Grichuk

Urshela - LOST - see Donaldson

I’m not sure I “lost” anyone.   With my draft slot I had choices that I know I would probably get 1 but not the other.   I chose Randy Arozarena knowing I would lose Adolis Garcia.   I chose Mikoles knowing I would lose Lynn.    The only one I “missed” on was Wisdom because I just flat out forgot to add him to my list.    Wacha would have been nice but he had quite a few teams to fall through to get back to me.

Oh I know, I was messing around. I assume MOST teams resign themselves to losing at least 1 of their top options unless they get really lucky and more options in the middle rounds.

I lost my top option this year but left the draft feeling so much better than last season where I got absolutely crushed. I did get Arozarena but I lost my top 3 pitchers before my first pick and by the time my 3rd rounder came along I had scratched off Eovaldi, Snell, Morton, Renfroe, Cron, Lowe and Myers. Thats a lot for a team like the Rays.

This year was much better. By my 3rd pick I had only scratched off Arozarena, Cron and darnaud.

I hate my team as usual, but hey that's just been the way it's been since around 2015. Thanks a lot Arte. Also, way to tease us with your fake announcement of selling the team.

C - Max Stassi

1B - C.J. Cron

2B - Jean Segura

SS - Luis Rengifo

3B - Anthony Rendon

OF - Mike Trout

OF - Taylor Ward

OF - Brandon Marsh

U - Shohei Ohtani

Bench - Jared Walsh, David Fletcher, Gio Urshela, Martin Maldonado

SP - Shohei Ohtani

SP - Tyler Anderson

RP - Carlos Estevez

RP - Jimmy Herget

P - Matt Moore

P - Ryan Tepera

P - Trevor Gott

B (SP) - Thor, Sandoval, Detmers, Heaney, Suarez

B (RP) - Quijada

The Angels have arguably the best two players in the majors, and yet we continue to play less than .500 ball. Injuries have certainly come in to play, with Trout & Rendon logging a lot of missed time over the last couple of years. The one player I missed out on that I really wanted was Drury. Thought he'd be there for me in the early 3rd round, but RH took him with the 1st pick in the 2nd round. If my squad can stay healthy, I have an outside shot of making our playoffs.

Well, if I didn't already know I was destined for the cellar this season, losing two of my three high-end players in the first two picks of the draft would have driven the point home. Meanwhile, I think I am rostering four non-roster invitees, and at least three other players who spent extended periods demoted to AAA in 2022. Because of limited options, I had to pass on my would-be #2 SP in Robbie Ray to draft the only SS available to me that is certain to have a job (Baez), ditto for 2B and Jonathan Schoop. If this isn't the worst roster in league history (outside of the 20-team days), it is damn close.

C - Eric Haase
1B - Spencer Torkelson
2B - Jonathan Schoop

SS - Javier Baez
3B - Eugenio Suarez

OF - Nick Castellanos, Riley Greene, Austin Meadows
Bench - Jose Iglesias, Jeimer Candelario, Akil Baddoo, Avisail Garcia, Kerry Carpenter

SP - Max Scherzer, Matt Manning, Spencer Turnbull, Eduardo Rodriguez, Drew Smyly, Michael Lorenzen, Drew Hutchison
RP - Gregory Soto, Alex Lange, Michael Fulmer, Justin Wilson, Miguel Diaz

Missed out on: Justin Verlander, CJ Cron, JD Martinez, Robbie Ray, Isaac Paredes, Matt Boyd, Joe Jimenez, Robbie Grossman, James McCann

Wow, that's a luxury I wish I had!  With the Rangers yearly turnover and constant deadline sellers, I lost a fair amount this year, but not moreso than other years.

LOST - Marcus Semien (1st round) - I knew this was a given as soon as the dice rolls, so I was prepared for it.

LOST - Yu Darvish (1st) - However, the only reason I lost him was DeGrom being available, so I'm fine with this choice.  It would have taken a miracle to get both I think.

LOST - Jeffrey Springs (3rd) - Definitely wanted, but like WW said about Nate Lowe, I would have loved to had but had higher needs.  I could have predicted WW and I picking these two players in round three months ago, just not sure who was getting which one.

LOST - Miles Mikolas (3rd) - lambert had the choice of Lynn or Mikolas, and I was probably grabbing the other.  We will see who ended up with the better selection.

LOST - Jimmy Herget (3rd) - Went a little quicker than I thought, but I knew the Angels had less options than I had, so I figured the chances of landing him were going to be slim.

LOST - Nathan Eovaldi (4th) - I'd just grabbed Lance Lynn, so I'm okay losing him here.

LOST - Matt Moore (4th) - Somehow completely missed this pick and tried to draft him later.

LOST - Pete Fairbanks (5th) - That one hurt, but I shouldn't have left him available into the fifth if I wanted him that badly.  I grabbed Martin Perez a few picks later but would have much preferred Fairbanks.

LOST - Andrew Heaney (5th) - Same with Fairbanks, and I ended up with Martin Perez.  Would have loved Heaney over Perez, but I had too many earlier needs.

LOST - Rafael Montero (5th) - After Fairbanks, he was my next main target for RP, but went sooner than I could have taken him.  Would have been my 6th round target after taking Perez.

LOST - Nelson Cruz (5th) - I hate seeing how far down the list he has fallen.  It wasn't that long ago that he was my top target in the draft.

LOST - Jordan Lyles (5th) - cmh had a much higher need than I did here.

LOST - Kyle Gibson (5th) - Still had too many guys ahead of Gibson when this pick came around. I took Perez right after.

LOST - Drew Smyly (5th) - Fun fact!  Of the six picks between 5.07 and 5.12, five were taken from my list.  Round 5 decimated my draft sheet - 8 of the 12 picks were eligible to me.

LOST - Chris Martin (6th) - I had a higher need and took Wisdom in the 6th, but still had RP options so I wasn't too concerned at this point.

LOST - Corey Kluber (7th) - I was debating between Kluber, Luis Garcia, and Nick Martinez in the 7th/8th, hoping to get two.

LOST - Nick Martinez (7th) - Breaking news!  I did not get two.

LOST - Wade Miley (8th) - I might have reached on Anthony Bass in the 8th after losing Martinez and Kluber the prior round.

LOST - Jake Odorizzi (9th) - I thought I might be able to snag him in the 9th, and thought there was a better chance of GB taking Bass in the 8th if I passed on him there, but this one actually stung to be such a late loss.

you could have taken Darvish in 1 and Degrom in 2, but I am sure you realize that

Padres- lost so many options drafting 12th, major run on Padres in the first, Manny, Boegarts, Snell.  Only round I missed out on any targets really, still have exclusive options sitting on the wire, and good odds at getting a top 5 pick, which I will use on an OF

C- Grandal, Nola *UGH

1B- Rizzo, Josh Bell

2B- Cronenworth (1B, 2B, SS) Kim on wire will be added as soon as I can drop Tatis,

SS- Abrams, good source of speed

3B- Missing Machado hurts, but having France and Drury will make up a bit

OF- Soto (Tatis), Renfroe, Grisham (Naylor on wire, will add a top OF in supplemental 1st Rnd)

Util- Cruz, although I doubt he cracks lineup over other guys

SP- Darvish, Gore, Musgrove, Lauer, Quantrill, Martinez, Lugo, Wacha (plenty of options)

CL- Hader, Bednar, Munoz (gives me 2 elite and 1 potential elite closer or holds in Munoz) Taylor Rogers (Giants) exclusive if he is closer

RP- Suarez, Hand (he could get some save ops) I missed on quite a few holds guys but just didnt see room (Garcia, Edwards) there are some other solid holds guys that aren't exclusive I can look at

I would have liked to add Olivares or Franmil from Royals as both have huge potential

I considered it for a bit, but that would have left my outfield a hot mess.  Joey "Mendoza" Gallo as my top OF and then very little options from there.

Updating post supplemental.

J-Rod automatically becomes my best hitter. A lot of spots will be fluid... for example I have Myers in the outfield with Yandy Diaz at 1st because I like Paredes power upside but if Paredes turns out to be too inconsistent, I have Wendle on the bench or I can shift Diaz to 3rd, Myers to 1st and utilize another outfield option. Outfield is also pretty fluid. Siri has tons of potential as sort of a Kiermaier with more pop. I could just as easily play Margot or KK... ideally Josh Lowe turns into what he was supposed to be and claims one of those spots.

Had to add SP in round 2 with Glasnow not even throwing yet. I'm not holding my breath to have him back before May. It sounds like his rotation spot will be filled by either Patino or Chirinos so I at least have someone to trot out there every 5th day until I eventually get my other Ace back. A healthy group of McClanahan, Glasnow, Gallen, Snell, Morton, Springs and Rasmussen gets me excited.

I have a bunch of exclusive RP depth that is currently not rostered. I wanted to keep drafting guys like Boxberger and Pagan to see their roles early on. Boxberger for example, could be the early favorite for saves in Chicago. If they turn out not to offer much, I have plenty of holds specialists to turn to.

SP WW - Yusei Kikuchi only WW exclusive not on my roster that I'll swing into my rotation.  RP I have a few exclusives that I'll rotate in as well as roles are finalized starting the season and a few of these DTD most likely hit the IR when it opens.

My Infield when I took Jose went from really good to on paper the best in the league potentially.  ranked 3, 2, 5, 1 around the diamond per Yahoo site today.  OF lacks the superstar so that's where a trade market may take me if injuries <cough-Springer-cough> were to get me but maybe RF does him safer while KK roams the defensive center most days.  Open to offers.
'm happy with my pitching setup entering the season.  Hopefully a good combo of all the stats.  Won't dominate anything there unless the resurgence of Berrios and Kukuchi play way above last season.  Could be homer relying too much on the way they look so far.

Alcantara
