A few observations after 2 episodes... - that nun chick still makes my pants feel tight for some reason. Is she the middle ages equivalent of Suzy Kolber???? - King Alfred's wife needs to die ASAP. Focking kvnt. (I've thought this for awhile so it's nothing new to S3) - I'm thinking the over/under for when Uhtred bangs the hot witch lady is around 4 episodes. Great show. If there's a small criticism, it's that S1 sped through A LOT of the book material very early on. The show was made on a shoestring budget and no one knew it would become a hit. If they did, IMHO, they would have converted the pilot ( one of the best pilots in the modern TV era, it's pretty fantastic for a first episode) into it's own full season. There is so much in that pilot that could have been fairly fleshed out into laying a foundation for the whole show. I've read that the show is popular amongst lots of actors, even some big name ones, but it's hard to get cameos and guest stars because of the way it's filmed. It's really a technical marvel when you look at what's on screen compared to their actual operating budget. Only History Channel's Vikings under Michael Hirst can really compare in terms of massive output in contrast to what is seen as a very limited modern TV budget per episode. Rings Of Power was given a 60 million PER EPISODE budget for it's first season. TLK spend 10 million on 8 episodes, which in modern TV, is basically poverty level production. To be fair, TLK first rolled out in 2015, but still, the difference is staggering. In essence, the cost of a single ROP episode probably covered TLK's entire operating budget for it's entire 5 season run. The show IMHO gets repetitive as it wears on, cast losses are inevitable, but some losses were pretty difficult to surmount. If the show could have gotten a full 8 episodes out of Matthew MacFayden ( not that popular in America, but moreso since his run on Succession), IMHO that would have generated enough "star power" to get the show a broader audience much earlier. Dreymon, for better or worse, just can't pull in a wide scale audience on his own. I'll say something unpopular, but this might have been better as a three season show. Ended it after three seasons. Fun fact: when I was getting fitted for the form fitted head/shoulder mask - - which gets bolted down to the table to ensure proper placement - - I asked the gal if it was OK to move my hands against my leg while getting blasted with radiation.
