Yeah, about 11 years old.  But also had a follow up with him when he turned 16 and then again at 18.

16 was mostly about driving, avoiding negative outcomes in any interactions with the police etc.

18 was about how the law can bite you in the arse if you date a younger girl.....

I talk with my son all the time.  Since being a toddler it's been about treating people with respect, treating women with respect.  When he got his first GF at age 15 we talked about how he's too young to start having sex, take things slow, don't pressure girls into anything, consent, etc.  I never had to explain to him how babies are made or any of the traditional "the talk" stuff because they learn that in school.  He also feels more comfortable talking to his mom about intimate stuff.  He talks to me about football, fishing, TV, movies and mom about relationship and hygiene.  It works.

My kid is 9. I have not had the talk with him as far as the..ahhhmmm...ins and outs of sex. He knows babies come from the womans vagina and knows that we do not have the same parts as girls do. That being said I do not feel the need to tell him the details till he is around 12.

I’m going to have the talk with My grandson and keep it short and sweet. When God made wemen he made them out of lace, he didn’t have enough so he left a little space.
