TheNewGirl 1,491 Posted April 8, 2024 And again...people aren't paying attention to WARN notices. If employers give notices to employees that they are being laid off...your employer lays you off but gives you 60 days before your severance kicks in, they do NOT have to file s a WARN notice with the state. If you find a job within that 60 days that you're still being paid/you're still employed, you're "technically" never laid off, you never really lost your job. It's kind of a loop hole that makes it look like people aren't really losing their jobs. My work does this. You get laid off but they have a 60day period where you're still paid/considered employed before severance kicks in. If you find a job in that 60 days, you don't get severance, so you were never REALLY laid off. So the company doesn't have to tell the state that jobs were "lost." I wonder how many other places do this, can really fock up the numbers I am sure.

I'd suggest that there are fewer people working now that can't afford to feed their families. Wages have exploded for the lower class the last three years. Jobs openings have forced employers to offer more money, flexible hours, WFH, etc. Biden's America has been a boon to the lower class.
