Lions 2pt attempt

CB has been the Lions biggest issue all season.  Sutton is a decent CB2, but the Lions don't have anyone who is remotely a shutdown CB.   The Lions will be getting both Gardner-Johnson and James Houston back for the playoffs, which will upgrade both their pass rush and their secondary.   The Lions are actually super strong at safety.   They need to realize they have to double any elite reciever and play more zones.  Putting Sutton one and one on Ceedee was a mistake.  But don't sell the Lions chances short.  They have a good chance at bearing anyone outside of SF and Baltimore.

Yeah, I hope the lions get it together and make a run. Be great for that fan base. I’m a Bears fan. It feels like that’s the model They are trying to follow a little bit.
and they have my boy Montgomery from Iowa State so I have to cheer for them a little bit

I am a lifelong lions fan. I just do not see it this year. Our backfield is just not good enough. I feel like if brad holmes  would have got Sweat or Young we could mask that with pressure. As it is they have zero chance of getting out of the first round. On top of that goff is just not really good. He throws ducks more often than not. I have never seen a QB throw as many NON spirals as he does.

I don’t know I think you have a good combo with Montgomery and Gibbs. I just don’t think Goff can get you guys there. But Laporta and Saint Brown have been fantastic. It’s a fun team to watch.

He has to be talking about the secondary.  The backfield is as good of a duo as anyone in football.   Goff can be criticized for his lack of mobility and his inability to accurately throw the deep ball, but in the short and mid-range passing he is as good as anyone.   The Lions are good this year, but will be better next year with a lot of cap space to fill in their holes.   Ironically, with Dan Campbell, Detroit has become a destination where players want to come.

Oh yeah he’s fantastic. My only concern with Jared is I almost get Josh Allen vibes from him that he’s just one of those guys that’s going to always be really really good but just can’t win with him. Hope I’m wrong because there’s a lot of just fun guys on that team to watch and like I said, God knows that fan base deserves it.

Yea I was talking about the defensive backfield. I just do not think they have it.

Iffy has played like an All-pro the last three weeks.  Branch is a stud.  Gardner-Johnson will be healthy again, and is a pro-bowler.  We lack a great cover corner, but i think we will be better than you believe.

I never put this team as a SB contender.  I think the city in general was hoping for  1) a division win and 2) A playoff win at home.

I think they can win their playoff game at home.  Anything after that is icing on what has been a good season

This is where I was at the start of the season and am back to now. But going into that Baltimore game after a string of double digit wins, I was thinking Super Bowl. The last good win was the Raiders game, then the lull where we lost 2/5 to the Bears (2), Chargers, Packers, and Saints. Beating Denver and Minnesota and having this outcome in Dallas has tho mojo back. Detroit outplayed Dallas but didn’t get the W. In a rematch, Dallas has more to fix than Detroit. For Detroit, CJGJ returning should help reduce secondary issues.

I got a little drunk on the wins too..But this defense has always been a factor and it never got completely better.  Liked how they played in Dallas, except just couldnt cover Lamb.

Rest starters vs Minny, except CJGJ, Houston, and McNeill who could use a tune up if they are available.  Stafford’s Rams are playing well, they’re likely to be gifted a win as SF also rests starters, they may even be in a position to rest their own starters, or even tank to face the lesser opponent, but the Lions have a much more complete team than they do. Its the scrambling type QBs that give the Lions more problems than pocket passers.

I welcome the opportunity to play Stafford.  He's prone to making mistakes, as we know..But Goff HAS to play better

The Lions likely get the Rams. SF will be resting starters but if they still beat LA anyway and the Packers beat the Bears, the Lions get Green Bay.

Maybe the Lions should celebrate that game, if it arrives, by having a Wayne Fontes bobblehead giveaway.

I'm actually happy for Lions' fans.  Every Lions fan I know has been pretty well humored as they suffered for decades.  They deserve this moment.
