Mike Honcho 5,281 Posted May 27, 2024 I was hoping he would have a run like McEnroe did at the US open for his final...unexpected and would make it to the semi's at least. McEnroe was 30 during that run and Nadal is 37 today---crazy how these guys are competitive so much longer. Great career, great forehand by a lefty. If you have played a lot of tennis(righty), you know how messed up it is to face a lefty with a good forehand.

Mac did it in 90 at 30 and Jimmy did it the next year at 39. My grandfather(still alive) loved Mac(he's Irish) and I guess that's why I remember that run so vividly. We watched together as Mac played some guy we hadn't heard of...Pete Sampras and we were sure Mac was going to win... I don't know why, but if you had bet me who made his run last---I would have bet a million dollars that it was Mac. I would have sworn Jimmy did it the year before John. As much as I loathed him while he was winning all those french opens and beating Federer. I 100% respect him now and watched every point yesterday. I have a feeling he will play next year.
