Not really fantasy, but fun stats.

11 of 15 teams to allow 40 or fewer sacks made the '23 playoffs. Teams that didn't: Raiders (40), Falcons (40), Seahawks (38), Saints (35). Texans made playoffs with most sacks allowed (47).

Fewest sacks allowed: Bills (24), Chiefs (28), Packers (30)... combined wins: 31

Most sacks allowed: Giants (85), Redskins (65), Panthers (65)... combined wins: 12

............................................................................................................................................................

Highest paid o-linemen... $28m Sewell (Lions), $25m Tunsil (Texans), $23.5m Thomas (Giants)

'24 highest ranked o-line per ProFootball Focus: 1) Lions, 2) Eagles, 3) Colts

'24 lowest ranked o-line per ProFootball Focus: 32) Saints, 31) Seahawks, 30) Titans

I have long been a believer that most teams win or lose games on the line.    it affects everything.

if your line performs well, your QB has more time to throw, your RB's have bigger holes to run through.    and if your line doesnt perform, then the RB has to ad lib and find a way to get positive yards when the line doesnt open up a hole.     and your QB has to scramble to make a play or throw the ball away.   I guess the reason why teams are going with running QB now is because their scrambling ability can allow them to perform even when the line isnt.

but there is a cost to that.    injuries.    Your running QB are more prone to injuries due to all the extra hits they take when they scramble.   and if your young QB has to scramble too much it can force them into bad habits as well.   so its not always a good thing.

That said, I'd take a good pocket passer who can make a quick read and decision behind a good line over a running QB behind a bad line.

but that's real life football.   in fantasy the running QB behind a questionable line is fantasy gold because of all the rush yards.

The Oline, And The Def line, games are won and lost there.

As I said the most sacks allowed were the Giants, Redskins, and Panthers. Their respective rank getting sacks: 26th, 29th, and 32nd. Oof.

The Chiefs allowed the 2nd fewest sacks, but their defense had the 2nd most sacks.  Another SuperBowl win and Mahomes gets credit. Funny how that works.

Been that way forever, the game is won in the trenches, forever, even with today’s game.   It’s not science.

Yeah and the Philly fans ran Andy Reid out of town because he lived by that mantra. Kansas City thanks us. Sometimes it’s embarrassing for me to be from Philly.

Nobody ran Andy out of Philly. Andy asked to be released from his contract because he was having some very serious family issues at the time. Owner Jeffrey Lurie RELUCTANTLY let him out of his contract.

It cracks me up how people forget what really happened when it's convenient.

Well, I know the media and radio stations, the callers, and fans at the home games spent SEVERAL years criticizing, cursing, and vilifying him. The last straw was when he named his offensive line coach, Juan Castillo, his defensive coordinator. I know these things to be true.

Cracks me up when people forget what really happened when it's convenient. Cracks me up more when they believe the Eagles spin on things when it goes to crap.

Just like they ran Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts out of town last season after the biggest collapse in team history?

Fans don't' run players out of town, GMs do.

You're an idiot

come on guys, lets keep this about the football.  Everyone is entitled to an opinion.  right or wrong.

Lets not go with the name calling.   try to keep it civil.

for the record I dont think it was a case where Reid was run out of town by anyone.  I think its a case where his son died of a drug overdose and I think Reid needed a change of scenery to get out of the city.

I don't follow Eagles football, but I always thought they fired him for not winning the big one. Which seemed insane... 4 NFC title games and a SuperBowl appearance. I'd kill for my Dolphins just to win a couple playoff games. But maybe that wasn't the real story. I knew the son died. Didn't know he just quit. I mean, what NFL coach quits?

And now that I google it.... "Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie made the decision to fire him in 2012 after a 4-12 season"

Yeah, he was fired. "Thanks for the four NFC title games - hit the road." Philly... ugh. Try being a Dolphin fan the past 25 years.

Yeah, he was fired

He was "fired" but he wasn't "fired".

His Son had just died and all hell was breaking loose in his life. He requested out of his contract. He and Owner Jeffrey Lurie ultimately agreed that a change of scenery would be his best bet to go on with his personal life.

Jeffrey Lurie to this day says it wasn't a firing and that he offered Andy the opportunity to take a year off away from the team. I was in Philly at the time and remember the situation like it was yesterday.

I've lived in Philly my entire life. He was fired. He was fired because he overstayed his welcome and had lost the team. He got hired immediately in K. C. by his friend and former Eagles exec Carl Petersen. K.C. had six pro bowl players, mostly on defense, and were ready to ascend. All they needed was a QB. The fans here in Philly ripped Reid for weeks because they felt that he had abandoned the team.

His son had issues dating back years before his death. Rumors in the media of selling weed to players, were commonplace. His other son as we know also had issues and went to jail. Reid didn't leave K.C. because of it.

To say definitively Laurie and he had an agreement is speculation at best. To insult someone with a different opinion just defines ignorance.

Seeing a lot of reports of o-line and def-line man getting injured, and some are season ending.
