The post Green Day Banned from Two Las Vegas Radio Stations After Billie Joe Armstrong Calls City “Worst Shithole in America” appeared first on Consequence.

Green Day‘s music has been banned from two Las Vegas radio stations after Billie Joe Armstrong called the city “the worst shithole in America.”

Armstrong’s comments stemmed from his beloved Oakland Athletics’ upcoming move to the Sin City. Like many, Armstrong is incensed about his hometown MLB team’s unceremonious relocation to Las Vegas and owner John Fisher’s apparent disregard for the team’s deeply loyal fanbase. The A’s just played their final game at the Oakland Coliseum this past Thursday (September 26th) in front of a sell-out crowd, ending a 57-year run in the Bay Area despite fans’ ongoing pleas for Fisher to “Sell the Team.”

OMG GREEN DAY IS BEING CENSORED!!!!

Wait, no they aren't.

Maybe those radio stations can start playing music you haven't already heard a zillion times instead of Green Day. Nevermind, they'll just play more Metallica and Alice in Chains. Because everyone needs to hear Enter SandMan in the Box again.

James Hetfield isn't the problem. Programmers at radio stations are. I love Metallica. I grew up on that shlt. I love Def Leppard too, and saw them in concert recently. But truthfully, if I never heard another DL song again as long as I lived, I'd be okay with it because I've heard them all way too many times. Appetite For Destruction might be the greatest hard rock album ever produced, but that doesn't mean I want to hear Welcome to the Jungle ever again. Because I don't. And because the radio stations are all owned by three companies and the music industry is so siloed, radio just gets more homogenous and keeps playing the same tired music.

Definitely bigger shìtholes.  Even if we're talking major city division, Detroit, Baltimore, probably Jacksonville, and Oakland are bigger shìtholes than Vegas.
