My guess is because Volpe sucks hitting this year and Boone figured a bunt would get runners at second and third where a sac fly would score a run... Plus he does lead the team in sacrifice bunts this year... But that is just a guess since most teams don't attempt bunts very often...

Bottom of the 9th? 10th? yeah I could see it. There? Nope. You like their manager? Is he pretty good? No. He runs a country club and the front office makes his lineup out for him. He could manage from home.

That’s ALL Mendoza does is fill out the lineup (150 different combinations so far). His in game decisions are non-existent or down right stoopid. Yes players are not performing but manager is crap. As for Judge hitting second, I would venture to get him more at-bats during a game hopefully... If a player has shown that he produces better batting 3rd (even if he still has good production batting 2nd), how many more at bats is he getting per game on average from the 2 hole vs the 3? I could understand if we were talking 2 vs 5, not that Judge would ever be batting 5th but of course some teams do take their 5/6 hitter and raise them up in the order when going against a lefty for example. In the stats you provided he's getting 11 less plate appearances in 4 less games batting 2nd. Even if we pretend he gets 5 plate appearances in those games, thats 9 more plate appearances over 69 games or like .13 PA's per game. to me, this is analytics failing a team. though I'm sure they are then also subtracting walks/hbp to get "at bats" which will be a bigger difference. but to me, the number they really should care about is the plate appearances. Their $ is the Yankees and YES. Now we have owners who were billionaires independent of the teams they own and the Yankees can't really outspend those guys. It's funny to think that we are probably closer to the Yankees being pro salary cap. and even when they do spend, they can't seem to do it properly. At some point they have to move on from Cashman and Boone.

They bought the rest since then. That’s a long time.

MikeMatt 229 Posted Saturday at 01:49 PM I’m getting killed in a Mets forum. I for one do not hold warm fuzzy feelings for a player no longer on my team - ESPECIALLY- when they make the decision to sign somewhere else. OK - I get it, not mad you got a better deal somewhere else that’s business- he moved on I moved on. To give a video tribute and standing ovation to deGrom last night was just stupid.
