It’s always the folks who really need their checks that don’t get them, like retired pensioners, VA, etc. The stupid stuff goes right on being stupid. And as I wrote earlier, this will end in a complete surrender by Trump and the Republicans. It may take a day or two, or it may go on for a few months. But in the end all the useless government you hate will be restored and any losses will be reimbursed with interest just like last time. You do realize this right? Quote Sen. Andy Kim, D-N.J., indicated Sunday that he is open to working with other Democrats to deny Republicans the votes necessary to keep the government funded ahead of a key deadline next month if the Trump administration continues reshaping federal agencies and programs. Sen. Andy Kim says he's open to shutting down the government if Trump continues dismantling agencies Oh, I recall those sunny days when Democrats assailed shutting down the government, calling it reckless and such......those were good times. Your question was for somebody else but personally I think it would be a bad move for Democrats to shut down the government. On the other hand, if Republicans in the House need Democratic votes as a result of extreme conservatives refusing to vote for a governmental package, then it’s not unreasonable for Democrats to make some demands or refuse to vote for things they absolutely don’t agree with. If Republicans refuse to compromise then it would be Republicans, not Democrats, shutting things down. IMO.

Well, Democrats are announcing they will shut down the government if Trump does not stop what he has been doing.....y'know, the stuff Americans voted him in to office to do..... I know Republicans have done this shutdown thing in the past to attempt to force more fiscally responsible funding, but the Democrats are weaponizing it to inhibit the mandate Trump has been afforded to change things. No this is not correct. Democrats are not objecting to the cuts so much as the way he is doing the cuts by exceeding his legal authority. And the public didn’t give Trump any mandate for that. They don’t have the votes. They vote no on things they don’t like it doesn’t matter for next two years.

Frozenbeernuts 2,114 Posted February 11 The democrat party is dead. Propped up by money from USAID through NGOs to make the appearance that the party was a lot stronger than it was. Every single delayed election result going to democrats. Their party is done. The majority of the people in the US have enough common sense to vote against returning to that way of life. If you still vote left, you are a fool and you have been fooled. You have been brainwashed into thinking transgenderism is at all important. That any of the insane lefty policies are important. You don't realize why these ridiculous things were pushed by the left. You now know on some level that your identity is tied to these issues. If you give up and admit they aren't important, you admit you were wrong, and that your identity as you know it now is dead. Stop letting your ego win. Admit you were wrong. Being right is much more impotent than defending your ego.

I am correct in my assertion, Democrats are weaponizing the budget, not unlike Trump is weaponizing tariffs. Now dont get me wrong, i am not in here whining about shutting down the government......that is for others.....just wondering if all that angst that was once prevalent when it was Republicans doing it......is still in place now that Democrats are doing it. I am not as certain as you about this. I guess we let it play out, and if the Democrats do it this time, well, then its not actually a problem of course....
