Let's go Penn State. Texas..Tennessee.

Grew up in Penn State country, I still pull for them.

Also, I have them -6.5 in one parlay, and Under 53.5 in another.

SMU is a tough team. I'm hoping Penn State can wear down SMUs defense in the first half and take advantage later. Wouldn't hurt for them to throw a couple screens here and there.

I was liking the under bet until SMU showed they suck.  :(

You're still in it if Penn can control the ball.

38-3 now in the 4th, I can afford a TD and FG...

Good pick on the under dude. I thought the 53.5 was way too high, but I'm very suspect of my U/O picks. So I stuck with Penn -9.

Texas is -13.5.

I like Texas. Lot of points to give though. I'm in for a meager $65.  I trust Texas more than anything I really know about Clemson. I think Clemson peaked already.

Phew, that was close!  Two down, two to go.

I did two 4-game parlays, one on spreads, the other O/Us.  For the spreads with that many games I like to buy down the points to under key numbers (like 3, 7, 10).  For the Texas leg I went with -9.5.

I probably should have done the same with the O/Us, but I don't usually play those so I don't have a system.  For the Texas/Clemson game I went Over 50.5.

Good luck with yours.

My best bet of the week was Notre Dame. I basically got my bankroll for the next two weeks on that one after I took out the cover of my deposit coverage for this cycle. I opened up up a second book account yesterday for odds comparisons and different offers all together. Having fun with that.

Good luck dude.

Thanks.  Good start to Texas/Clemson for the over.  My first two games won the unders, now I have two overs (Ohio State/Tennessee o 46.5).  The gambler in me realizes unders are generally better, but it's frustrating as crap rooting for them, to me anyway.

Also, I don't mind if Clemson wins.  The winner plays Arizona State which is my team, and I'd rather they play Clemson.  I don't put much money on these kinda crazy bets ($10, +720-ish for the odds parlay).  I'll be upset if Texas wins but doesn't cover though.

Texas is really good. I think you may win your over, but not the game.

I'm considering Tennessee as they are so underrated by the average fan. I definitely want to watch Arizona State again though.

31-10 in the 3rd.  Odds bet looks good.  Good pace for the over, just need 10 more points.

I stand to get a payout of $139 if I win the over/under bet.  BetMGM will give me $60 to cash out now.  Tempting, although I would probably wait until I get the over in this game (31-17 now, need 3 points).

I probably won't, since I do this for the rooting interest more than the money.

Last game is OSU -6.5 and over 46.5.  21-0 OSU in the first, both are looking good early.

I know you liked Tennessee @jbycho; I didn't really see them much, but I watch a lot of Big 10 (wife went to Michigan) and while Michigan beat them, OSU is super talented, perhaps the most talented team in the country IMO.  Also it's below freezing.

I screwed up this game. I underestimated that OSU players are pros out of high school.

My thread about it focked up. Re-updated.

21-10 at half, good job by Tennessee to score at the end to make sure OSU keeps their foot on the gas pedal in the second half.

I'm liking my odds in both bets.  BetMGM is as well, offering me about 70% to cash out.

I think this 1st round shows that 12 teams are unnecessary. Its fine, and good for college football fans, but like the show, Eight is Enough.

Regarding my bets, yahtzee!  :)

I agree with your post. No way they reduce the number of teams tho.  Too much revenue

We'll see how it goes going forward bur this year true enough: 9, 10, 11, and 12 all got their asses kicked badly by 5, 6, 7, and 8.

This is a learning year. This won't be the norm I'm thinking.

I think the best teams were placed in the top 12. The better teams won?  What was the lesson learned?

There is a lot that will come to light after this playoff season for these teams and the new format.

These teams all won by blowouts. What was the point of adding in these additional teams if they provide little to no competition? How will this affect both the teams that played and won easily, and the teams who had a bye when they play each other? The bye teams such as Arizona State will not have played a game for over 3 weeks while teams like Texas won and will now have that game play under their belt with 10 days to rest up any injuries.

There are rules about how much time the students are allowed to practice. I'm not sure that will affect the teams who played a game vs those who haven't. And hell, Arizona State is ranked #4 in the country and given the bye, while Texas is ranked #5, and they played yesterday, and are now favored by 13.5 over the higher ranked Sun Devils.

Penn State is favored by 10.5 over the Broncos who outrank them by 3 spots.

It may not ultimately interest you, but there will be tons of discussions going on about this format when this bowl season is over. And I'm not saying it will be all bad. Just that there will be some scrutiny (which is not always a bad thing for the game) and possible tweaks in the coming years.

I like that the conference champs all make the playoffs, but i think they'll do away with giving the top 4 the byes. They'll probably just give the top 4 ranked teams the byes.

Yeah, it's kind of fun. It's like a mini NCAA men's basketball tourney.

2 teams that got byes are double digit underdogs, that's a bad look. I agree, they'll have to completely rethink who gets the byes.

12 teams is here to stay tho, even though it's clearly unnecessary.

#8 Ohio State is favored by 2.5 over #1 Oregon.

So what did we get taught?  That this wouldn’t be perfect?  If that’s what you were taught you were naive to begin with.  Maybe power conference means something? Again, it took this 12 team playoff for you to learn this?

It's fine. You are the NCAA football guy who says it's flawed, will always be flawed, and it doesn't interest me guy.

There are a lot of things that I'm not interested in too.

Just so you know, a 12 team playoff is different than simply having the top two or four ranked teams playing for the championship.

You should have just said you don't care about it in your first post and then left the thread.

Dang, what a sourpuss....

🤔 just dumb it down for me.  You quoted Voltaire’s point about 9-12 getting beat with this being a learning year.

Dont know all the logistics and i like the fact that 5-8 get home games. 1-4 should get them in second round too.  In theory a #5 USC (or UCLA) for example could get a home game in round one and play an Eastern team in the Rose Bowl in round two, thereby getting a second "home" game.
