LA Mayor Karen Bass failed to deploy highly trained $1M crisis response team to help wildfire victims

Recommended Posts

LOS ANGELES — A crisis response team reporting to DEI LA Mayor Karen Bass – with hundreds of trained volunteers and a nearly million-dollar budget – languished on the sidelines for a week as the city endured its most devastating natural disaster ever, The Post has learned.

The embattled mayor’s apparent failure to quickly deploy these key support resources is the latest in a series of botched leadership decisions that has characterized her response to the Palisades Fire, which has killed nine people, wiped out thousands of homes and engulfed an area half the size of Brooklyn, New York.

The mayor’s office did not begin putting the volunteers to work helping fire victims until Tuesday — after The Post began asking questions about why its volunteers were idle.

“This team is more well funded than any in the country and is sitting on its hands, not responding at all,” one longtime volunteer told The Post.

“I’m stunned by this.”

I think it is clear that the Mayor did not adequately prepare for the potential of a fire, really much at all.

She failed her people.

Now, consider this as well, could she really have done much to fight this fire off? I mean it would have required more than she had at her disposal I think, but she may have been able to save lives and at least lessen the impact if she had any concept of leadership.

Caruso was the other Democrat.  He seems to really have had his chit together and loves the area.  He lost handily.  That appears to have had unfortunate consequences.

I may not recall correctly, but I thought what I saw was a rather close election, which sadly Caruso lost.

Your point remains.  Caruso was present, understood the situation, and did something......as much as he could.....to get ahead of this, which IS leadership.  Voters really need to pay attention and stop voting for those incapable of doing the job.

Maybe later they can produce something that aligns with your personal opinions, and can be considered :accurate" at that time.

It doesn't have to align with my personal opinions. I just want it to be factually acurate and not with a slanted and misleading conservative bias (which is usually the case for the New York Post). They have proven that they publish right wing propaganda, not news.

I do not concur with your self assessment. I have repeatedly observed you ignoring facts and reality to serve your own opinion.  That you might object to their depiction indicates to me that it simply does not align with a liberal point of view, and nothing more.

If you or anyone wants to take the time to look it up, The New York Post has a well documented history of presenting slanted and misleading stories.

I agree with your assessment of the Post, but I find it more centrist than some others.  It tends to offset some of the lies that arise out of the Times.

We have to first agree that all media is perverted by political affiliation, and none of it can simply be trusted.  Only through careful digestion across the range of politicized media (except MSNBC, no one should ever consume that excrement) followed by individual research can we hope to arrive at something nearing a reasonable assessment of what is perhaps true.
