If you didn't get the vaccine and had the same mild symptoms, what would you have credited that to?

I never got the vaccine and had mild symptoms as well.  I credit that to having a functioning immune system.

I got first two shots and a booster.

I've had COVID 3 times since then and each time it's been different.

I attribute nothing to nothing. Did the vaccines work in the beginning? Quite possible, since I didn't get sick and my first case was negligible; only lost taste/smell, felt fine. The LAST time I got it, around November (after traveling) was awful.

ALSO! My family has only gotten the first two vaccines, no boosters.

I have had COVID more than any of them.

The bird flu has been around for what, close to 30 years?  It pops up in the news occasionally and people freak out some, then it gets forgotten about again until it's in the news again.  What exactly is the big scare about the bird flu this time?

Liberals will freak out and blame Trump for it. That's the purpose. :dunno:

I got covid twice.  First time was before the vaccine even came out and I felt crappy for a week or so.  Never lost taste or anything like that, just achy and tired.  The second time I got it I felt tired and run down for about 3 days and that was it.

The fact that Moderna got awarded $590 million to whip up a vaccine tells me that health officials are worried about this round, and it might be a bad sign that Trump has ordered no communication out of health organizations such as NIH and CDC.

https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2025/bird-flu-is-raising-red-flags-among-health-officials

It's the mutations that possibly could lead to human-to-human transfer, and bird flu can be more severe that regular flu.

The concern is that the virus might mutate into something that can be really deadly to humans. Experts think that the "Spanish Flu" epidemic of 1918, that killed millions worldwide, might have started as an avian influenza

Bird Flu Kills 20 Million Chickens in U.S., Driving Egg Prices Sky-High

A deadly bird flu outbreak has wreaked havoc on U.S. chicken farms, claiming the lives of over 20 million egg-laying chickens last quarter, marking the worst impact on America's egg supply since the outbreak began in 2022.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data shows the staggering toll included chickens culled to contain the virus, too. This, in turn, has contributed to record-high egg prices across all production types, including conventional, cage-free, and certified organic systems, a USDA report published on Jan. 10 shows.

The federal government has spent $1.25 billion compensating farmers for chickens lost to bird flu since the outbreak began, aiming to encourage farmers to report infections and help stop the virus from spreading, a news release from CBS News states.

I don't see the egg prices lowering anytime soon.

Also, prices for eggs, poultry, beef and duck. Bird flu already was causing egg prices to spike, and MAGAturds blamed Biden, so I'm going to blame Clownzo for everything moving forward.

Dogs and cats also can get bird flu from eating infected dead birds or drinking an infected cow's raw milk.

If it can jump from chickens to cows and ducks, it could mutate into being passed between pets and even infect humans.

Corona viruses have been around for years as well. Remember SARS and MEARS?

COVID eventually became the one to spread like wildfire.

And this has come along at a time when Clownzo has shut down communication coming out of health agencies.

What a focking disastrous first week of his presidency.

Exactly, and if it's spreading to other animals such as cows, this could be a real focked-up situation in a hurry, and Moderna getting $590 million to step up vaccine work is pretty telling. We didn't see that early on with COVID.

The Spanish flu pandemic around 1918 killed as many as 100 million worldwide. As of April of last year, COVID had killed only 7 million worldwide.

Calling the Chinese flu the Chinese flu is racist but saying Spanish flu is okie dokie with liberals.

I find it a little suspicious that Biden signed that order granting Moderna the money just hours before leaving office.

I know the ramifications of the Spanish Flu and COVID, I am just not freaking out about it yet.

Haven't been sick in decades. Never got covid. Never get the flu.

Weaklings get sick all the time and have to worry about these things I guess.

I have gotten a covid vaccine twice, so I’m not anti.  But, this statement from you cannot be quantified.  I’ve seen estimates that range all the way from 800k to 20 million.  It is and will remain unquantifiable.

I'm not freaking out yet, but how suscipious is it that Trump has shut down communication out of the CDC and other health organizations?

Why has he nominated a knucklehead anti-vaxxer with a worm in his brain to be in charge of Health and Human Services?

With health officials prior to that sounding the alarm about bird flu, why wouldn't Biden support that $590 million in funding before worm brain takes over and Trump shuts down our country's health officials from getting information out to the public?

The devastation in the poultry industry alone is proof enough that this disease is a focking problem!

Well never have an exact number, but there have been some pretty extensive calculations to come up with the numbers and quanify it as best as we can.

Everything I've read say that his shutdown communications is temporary and there are previous administrations who've done this while they get things squared away. According to NPR, CDC is still publishing stats on the respiratory virus status for the season. https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2025/01/24/g-s1-44613/cdc-nih-hhs-health-data-mmwr

Quote

"HHS has issued a pause on mass communications and public appearances that are not directly related to emergencies or critical to preserving health," the statement reads. "This is a short pause to allow the new team to set up a process for review and prioritization. There are exceptions for announcements that HHS divisions believe are mission critical, but they will be made on a case-by-case basis."

I don't know the reasons of why he's nominated certain people.

Everything I've read on the CDC site today about bird flu says that their concern is low  terms of co-infection, or spreading from person to person. They state that it's a possibility it can happen but their concern is low.

I agree that the affects on the poultry industry is cause for alarm.

67 people in the US have died from bird flu 2024 to now. The majority older people with underlying health conditions.

Again, I am concerned, just not freaking out about it, and I won't be first in line for a new mRNA vaccine this time.

Well this is terrible.  Clearly the only course of action is to shut down society and make everyone wear masks 24/7, especially when taking a dump.

The liberal party has nothing without false alarms in life. Global cooling!! Global warming!!! Chinese flu!!! Bird flu!!! Insurrection!!!  Putin!!! Trump!!!!

The party that cries wolf 40 times a year. Year after year after year.

If they actually did discover anything bad that really is happening and scream about it, we won't believe them cause they cry ALL THE TIME. But on the flip side, they are usually the last people on earth to find out about anything that is happening of consequence. :dunno:

Eggs are cheap around me. Who is paying $8 for a dozen eggs? Jeez, you are being ripped off. There is a wide range of egg prices in all the stores depending on what you fall for in the advertising on the carton.
