OTTAWA, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Canada to impose tariffs on a slew of Chinese products from as early as next year, the government's fiscal update showed, as part of its wider investigation into imports from the country.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government has already slapped a 100% tariff on all Chinese electric vehicles and a 25% tariff on imports of Chinese steel and aluminum products, with the finance ministry previously saying it was also exploring options to widen the duties.

Again..tell the voters what the Dems are going to do.

The dems are better at being the opposition party not in power, complaining about everything, then when they get in power they fall apart.  

Right now if the party is going to thrive or even survive, they need to take a different direction toward the middle. The country has shown that is what people want.

What you wrote is how politics should be in a perfect world, but in the world we live in, elections aren’t won by promising what you’ll do but by trashing the people in charge. That’s how Trump won the last campaign, and that’s how Dems will win the next one. I don’t like it but that’s how to win.

No they don't have a clue how this negatively impact them before the damage is irreparable and irreversible.

As usual Going forward in all election's half will be happy, half won't be happy.  The country is divided by close to 50% each way and it will not change anytime soon.

Apparently you learn your history from Ferris Bueller because it is a pantload.  The federal government used to operate off terriffs and land sales.   The income tax act of 1913 changed that a bit, but there qere terriffs in 1890, 1894, 1897, 1909, 1922 which all passed ranging from 38% to 49%.  There was nothing special about Smoot-Hawley in 1930 except it became popular rhetoric to somehow blame it for the the Great Depression by free trade extremists.   The Smoot-Hawley had very minimal impact on the economy as it barely changed the US tax policy from the previous 40 years.   It is nothing but revisionist history to overhype the value of free trade by those pushing some seriously one-sided terrible unfair trade deals we struck with Mexico and China.
