LIBERATION DAY: US economy now in reverse

I don’t think he’s out to get me personally. I just don’t agree with what he’s doing,

Also please don’t bring up Scott Adams. One of the dumbest people on the planet,

I'll skip the Scott Adams stuff since it has been discussed, except to add that he is also an engineer (we are all uber brilliant) and has built a successful comics empire, and you... haven't.

That being said, we can disagree on what Trump is doing, and on the way he is doing it (although we are more aligned on this one, and I'm less optimistic on the goals).  But his and Musk's motivations... we agree it's not money, good.  Autocracy:  he's trying to get around roadblocks, just like Biden before him.  He's just more frontal about it.  Sure, he would prefer if there weren't pesky laws and congress and courts in his way, but he isn't going to try to abolish the underlying structure of our system, cmon now.  Similarly, you have stated things like he wants to destroy our economy, and folks like @Grace Under Pressureand @SaintsInDome2006, along with the regular cast of Leftie characters, want to attribute actual evil to Trump.  I suppose such a belief is how you can turn your TDS into a religious zealotry and keep up the hatred, I dunno.  But it isn't the case.

To correct you: I have not stated that Trump wants to destroy our economy. I have stated that he is doing so, IMO. It is certainly not his intention. He believes that the tariffs will make us more prosperous. I do not.

I also have never believed Donald Trump is evil, I don’t think he is a good person. But I reserve evil for the truly wretched among us: Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, Charles Manson, etc. Whatever Trump is, he’s definitely not that.

Actually that is exactly what he's trying to do.

Example #1: 3 Executive Orders to remove the ability of Independent agencies to operate independently but rather to the directives of the executive.  Outlined here: https://blog.ucs.org/jules-barbati-dajches/trump-administration-extends-its-attempted-power-grab-with-executive-orders/

Example #2: Tariffs.  The control over tariffs lies within Congress but Congress has abdicated this right over to Trump.  This is why we have the chaos you see today.

There are countless others.  I would suggest a google search if you are interested.

That's your evidence?  I read your link, and followed the link to the NRC website, where I learned:

Quote

The NRC is headed by five Commissioners appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate for five-year terms. One of them is designated by the President to be the Chairman and official spokesperson of the Commission.

So it falls under the POTUS, and POTUS has oversight.  There has been much discussion about such "independent" agencies, but the concern is summarized nicely in the EO:

Quote

Section 1.  Policy and Purpose.  The Constitution vests all executive power in the President and charges him with faithfully executing the laws.  Since it would be impossible for the President to single-handedly perform all the executive business of the Federal Government, the Constitution also provides for subordinate officers to assist the President in his executive duties.  In the exercise of their often-considerable authority, these executive branch officials remain subject to the President’s ongoing supervision and control.  The President in turn is regularly elected by and accountable to the American people.  This is one of the structural safeguards, along with the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches, regular elections for the Congress, and an independent judiciary whose judges are appointed by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, by which the Framers created a Government accountable to the American people.

However, previous administrations have allowed so-called “independent regulatory agencies” to operate with minimal Presidential supervision.  These regulatory agencies currently exercise substantial executive authority without sufficient accountability to the President, and through him, to the American people.  Moreover, these regulatory agencies have been permitted to promulgate significant regulations without review by the President.

These practices undermine such regulatory agencies’ accountability to the American people and prevent a unified and coherent execution of Federal law.  For the Federal Government to be truly accountable to the American people, officials who wield vast executive power must be supervised and controlled by the people’s elected President.

Basically, the President issued an EO, which does not touch the fabric of our system.  That EO said that he wanted to take a look-see at why my agencies are doing.  Your author, from the "Union of Concerned Scientists," is upset because until now they have had a virtual blank check with no oversight to do whatever the hell they want, and now that is going away.

You can argue that a POTUS should have confidence in the people he puts in place, and not feel the need for such oversight.  But it is sky-screaming to equate this to abolishing the underlying structure of our entire system.  Unless you can show me in, say, the congressional charter for such agencies, where it says that the President has no say in the dealings with agencies under his purview.

I just want to explain why a good portion of the Trumpist movement is not at all conservative or [little 'r'] republican or really even [big 'R'] Republican.

This snip from Trump's EO is completely false constitutionally. The Constitution puts the power of legislation in the hands of Congress. If Congress creates a set of standards and requirements and requires further that the commission or board overseeing it must be independent then it must be allowed to do so. It is operating at Congress' behest, not the president's. Trump's EO is anti-conservative because it arrogates power to one man, the president, and treats him as an emperor over an imperial administration, like a Hapsburg, not a Washington. Conservatism is about derogating power away from centralized control.

It’s possible. A man can’t have a vagina. You lose. Again.

No, I was making an absurd joke at a deserving public persons expense.  You, on the other hand, support the absurd notion via your vote. Words/ deeds.

Ha this is a whole discussion. But yeah I think if someone raises Orange Man Bad they should be prepared to discuss the whole Orange thing. But sure the only people having this sort of wig work done are old ladies on Madison Avenue & Rodeo Drive.

I don't get it. Long hair blows on the wind whether it is wing or not.  There is video of Jimmy Fallon confirming it's his real hair up thread.

So doubling down on your TDS yes or no.

You failed on your first lie. Next, link to Trump wearing a girdle?

You’re asking if it’s deranged like I build shrines or have plush toys with his likeness or that kind of thing? No. I just think the focus on his manliness is amusing.

You made the claim, burden of proof is on you chump.

But Jimmy Fallon asking the question and then yanking on it during live TV is pretty compelling evidence that you're full of chit.

Case closed, you're full TILT TDS.

I don’t know what the Jimmy Fallon reference is.  This is Fred Trump, his father at a younger age than DJT is now.

You're going to have to analyze the gene sequences of both parents if you trying to say Trump is bald. Even then that's not proof without Trump's sequence.

Fun Fact:  A sure sign of TDS is repeatedly doubling down on dumb.

It’s ok, no you’re right we don’t have his medical records, none of us have. That’s badger nest on his head is totally natural. Totally.

My dad was balder than that when he was 10 years younger than I am (57).  And I have a remarkably glorious head of hair, just the slightest hint of a widow's peak, if you look for it.  :dunno:

You said wig. Prove it or GTFO here with your TDS. Pretty simple and standard.

It’s not a rug. It’s like 20 hairs that he wraps around his dome like a decorative towel - after he has them painted yellow. Quite the dandy!

Oh I see. I’m open to discussion on weave vs rug vs scalp reduction surgery or a very expensive comb-over or a hybrid of those but in the end it’s all what old school used to call a rug.

I’m open to this argument. There might be some sculpting & spraying by a makeup girl. Old ladies spend a lot of time & money on this stuff, it’s a thing.
