EU weighs $840 billion plan to 'rearm Europe' after US pauses Ukraine aid

Recommended Posts

Thank you President Trump!!

Finally someone got Europe off it's ass and stop being blood-sucking children on the world stage.

There is a war on your doorstep and you are finally taking some responsibility.

And America wins for it.

Let's just see if you know how to do it correctly.

Winning!!

Where was this when old man Joe was in office?

The European Union has a new plan to spend $840 billion more on its own defense after President Donald Trump paused aid to Ukraine and peace negotiations hit a wall.

"I do not need to describe the grave nature of the threats that we face, or the devastating consequences that we will have to endure if those threats would come to pass," EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen told reporters on Tuesday.

She said she had written a letter to the heads of state of all European governments outlining a "set of proposals" to "rearm Europe."

"A new era is upon us," von der Leyen wrote in the letter.

Why did Europe not do this earlier while Biden was in office? 🤔

This is such a wonderful win.  Trump is setting up a long-term system where European nations stop being second-handers (to use an Atlas Shrugged phrase) and pay their fair share, or more, to defend THEIR OWN FOCKING CONTINENT$#@!

Not to mention, US mil-aero companies will probably sell the vast majority of equipment for this.

I wonder if our Left brethren will acknowledge as much.

I hope they use the money smarter than the US did when Biden was president. "Put the oxygen mask over your face first before you assist others".

Why should they? The US were doling out money hand over fist to them to cover their defense.

If someone is giving you money, why would you do anything to stop that money train?

This ensures that RUSSIA will invade Poland at some point. Putin only fears one Man, DONALD J. TRUMP 💪 🇺🇸

Is this really a victory?  I am not certain.

Can Europe now handle their disagreements?  I hope so, I would welcome that.  History is not on their side.

The last time Europe handled their disagreements we were blessed with world war I and world war II which the US had to bail them out of.

They have a good advisor in Trump.

I'm reminded of a fable I once heard about eagle vs. turkey parents.  Eagle parents let their eaglets fly from the aerie.  They don't let them do it alone, but rather fly behind them ready to help should they need it.  Turkey parents (today, helicopter parents) help their children do everything, such that they never learn how to be free and independent.  They grow into Thanksgiving Dinner.

The US has been turkey parents to Europe.  Now we are transitioning to eagle parents.  We are still there to help if stuff goes south.  But at least they are the first line of defense.  Who knows, they may even grow some confidence and, dare I say, nationalistic pride.

Same sort of question popped into my head.

If Europe always had support for Ukraine, and are able to do this now, why did they mostly just look the other way or go to the restroom when the server dropped thr check off?

....maybe Europe has a plan to recoup some of this.  But those poor bastards living in many of those countries are about to get hosed.  From what I gather, it isnt exactly financially comfortable over there in some countries.  Maybe they can just tax the peasants even more to recoup and they wont bat an eye.

They do not have the money to bulk up militarily.

The have used the threat capabilities of the United States to avoid military spending.  Instead, they have bloated social programs......and THAT is where the money will have to come from.

And those choads over there are nearly as entitled as people here.....so I wish them well.....

If you make over 50k in lira in the UK, you are giving 40% of that to the government. Over 125k? 45%.

Where does all that money go? Especially with no defense in place.

They need a Trump in office and a Musk sidekick to root it out.

Government was intended to deliver basic services.  It evolved into a wealth reallocation system.  So you have productive people putting in the work and making money.....and then you also have others who do not put in the work, but feel as though they should have stuff anyway.....government that embraces socialism ruins progress and productivity.

There are a lot of people on this earth that don't want to participate in taking responsibility for themselves is what comes from that

There are real people in actual need in this country and in the world. But the lazy greedy people who are only in need because they are in fact lazy, cut in line ahead of the actual needy folks.

It's absolutely a focked up system. And many politicians prey on turning people into that angry vulturous type.

I have/ had relatives in Europe.  I remember from a young age watching the government begin to provide everything to excess for people. The result was a populace that trusted and was dependent on government, to the point they would stand by and watch as third world savages were imported and raped their women and children amongst other forms of terrorism.  There’s no free lunch.

Hey @The Psychic Observer, still think weepaws isn't at least a little touched?  He just bumped a 6 week old thread to post an unrelated (and of course, unsourced) group of words, and a similarly unrelated random bible quote.

:dunno:
