“Thank You ELON MUSK”: SpaceX Crew Saves Astronauts Abandoned By Demented Biden

NASA managed it,

The whole discussion is ridiculous. Presidents have no clue about whether or how a space mission can be run. It’s 100% a NASA operation.

Then why is SpaceX even there?

They’re a contractor, hired help. If anyone wants to rail at Obama & the progressives for hollowing out NASA so they have to rely on private contracting to do its missions go right ahead.

Well you’re free to think what you want, I find your outrage here to be highly hypocritical and selective. Musk’s company saved some lives today. His actions in the last two months have cost many more. Where was your outrage when he openly encouraged Trump to end our acceptance of Afghan refugees trying to escape the Taliban? Some of those folks have already been sent back and put to death. Did you condemn Trump and Musk at the time like I did? Yeah I didn’t think so. Musk is a bad person. Try not to be one yourself.

Putting your life, wealth, and sacred honor on the line.  You are just like a signer of the Decalration of Independence.  Just like a Ranger scaling Pointe Du Hoc.  Thank you for your service

😭 Trying so hard.

Liberals are so stupid.

No, that would be anyone that thought they were “trapped,” like @Strike.  Shocker, he didn’t come back to admit he was wrong

Why would I admit I was wrong when I wasn't?  I guess Gilligan wasn't "trapped" on an island either.

Nope I didn’t do any of that. I’m not a hero, in fact I’m probably a coward (never been tested so I don’t know.)

But I did join the Welcome Corp last year. I did form a group of friends and family to welcome in a family of Afghan refugees to this country, and I did provide them personal and financial support and quite a lot of my time, and continue to do so. So yeah in this instance I put my money where my mouth is. And I’m not ashamed to say I’m proud of it.

NASA announced in August 2024 the plan to bring them back via SpaceX in February 2025.  You’re wrong.   Musk was obviously aware of the plan, why didn’t he make a big deal out of it until this year if he thought they were trapped?

The other thing that was pretty hilarious about this story, in addition to @Strike once again refusing to admit he was wrong, is the number of news outlets that tried to use this interview as evidence “the return was pushed back for political reasons” (including the NY Post and the very outlet that published the interview):

https://arstechnica.com/space/2025/03/butch-and-suni-send-mixed-messages-on-whether-politics-delayed-their-return/

But to directly quote the interview:

Q. Did politics influence NASA's decision for you to stay longer in space?

Wilmore: From my standpoint, politics is not playing into this at all.

The “evidence” is this later quote, which honestly doesn’t even make sense:

Q. Elon Musk said he made an offer to bring Butch and Suni home last year, but it was denied by the White House. Is this true?

Wilmore: I can only say that Mr. Musk, what he says, is absolutely factual. We have no information on that, though, whatsoever; what was offered, what was not offered; who it was offered to, how that process went.

So they know Musk is being “absolutely factual,” except the very next sentence is saying they didn’t have any information on what was offered…
