Is the CW a court witness, or a cooperating witness? I've been behind on following on this.

CW means common wealth in MA which means prosecutor..

Hopefully today is the day for a verdict! Free Karen Read!

Ok. Prediction time. IF Read is found not guilty, where does this investigation turn to? Do the feds step in?

It goes nowhere.  CW does no further investigation.

Feds already investigated last year. They had hired Arcca back in pt 1.

Bev says court ends at 4:00 today. I watch a ton of trials & 5:00 is the earliest I've seen. Usually they'll maybe check in ŵhere they are. If they are close, I've seen one case go to 10 pm with a pizza dinner.

Never seen a judge so restrictive & interfering especially with the defense in this case!

Seeing thèse type of comments on̈ Twitter scare me. I'm thinking there is at least 1 idiot on the jury..

"It’s not a difficult case at all. OUI manslaughter hit and run."

A lawyer who had tĥe rare opportunity to be on a jury said there were a couple whose attention span was short in his trial & these people would go with she was there, drunk, he was hit, killed..mentality.

Ugh! Jurors question, ŵhat happens if we aquit on 2 charges but are hung on one.

Bev said not going to tell them hypotheticals. This may be a repeat of trial one with count 2.

If I was on the jury no way I nail her for a driving violation after what the CW put her through.

It’s beyond difficult to get a not guilty verdict especially when the prosecutor and judge are willing to do whatever it takes to get a win. If you are charged with a crime even if innocent, you’re usually getting convicted anyway. Karen Read has great lawyers who put on an excellent defense.
I think they should have spent a good deal of time explaining what reasonable doubt means in a general sense.

Jackson explained reasonable doubt very clearly more than once.

The way the form is set up screams choose a guilty verdict. I mean it should be simple..put ng next to each count & simplify the damn thing. Bev is corrupt af!

OK good. I missed him explaining that.

I agree.

The jury is hung on an oui as a lesser charge in a murder case and the judge wants to force a mistrial because of a dispute on the misdemeanor charge

Sad huh. Not answering their question.. hopefully the jury is sus about it. They sound smart.

I can't see them leaving tomorrow not done. Thursday is the fed holiday so no court, Friday not positive court will resume.

She'll have to read the Allan charge, I think it's called, where you said the jury back at least once if they say hung to encourage them to keep working on it.

They better not hang on the dui! How do we know what her bac was at the time of the event??

Karen Read's blood alcohol content (BAC) was reported to be 0.093%

Read's blood was taken at 9:08 a.m.

The jury had a verdict. They pull everyone back and then they say they don’t have a verdict and the one the passed in isn’t being open

It’s 2:27pm and we are back on the record.
All the parties in court.
The jury knocked on the door during lunch and said they had a verdict. Then they knocked again and said they didn’t have a verdict. Allegedly.

A verdict slip was put into envelope and sealed “for the record” with the word “jury” written on it.

Unclear if that slip is filled out / signed by the foreman.

I’m confused. What just happened.

This is insane. The jury told the court officer that they have a verdict, then told them they don’t have a verdict. The original verdict was put in a sealed envelope that was just given to Cannone. This is unreal.

A tweet from Turtleboy

If I were to guess (and this is just a guess) I think that the most likely thing that happened is that the jury gave the Court Officer the verdict, and then panicked that they may have filled it out wrong. That seems like a much more likely scenario than one of the jurors saying, "psych, I changed my mind to guilty, let's deliberate some more." If this is the case it means they've made up their mind and the verdict will likely come today.
