Yeah man totally agree.  Some things should be above the political trolling and shots.  Squistion should be embarrassed he used the death of young girls here.

Lady Squidtard sets new lows every time he posts.  Just when you think he can't get any lower, he shows you why he's such a POS.  The faster you accept this, the less surprised and disappointed you'll be.  He is true scum.

No one could have predicted this. This is new from a hydrology and meteorology standpoint. A flash-flood warning usually means not being a dumbass in trying to cross a road or bridge with water flowing over it.

I understand your point, but In a way, they did predict this.

Earlier in the week the NWS forecast up to 7 inches of rain. Sure, that was less than fell in some areas, but as you said, no one could've predicted that a few areas would receive 12" or more in such a brief period.

If a warning like that was issued in most areas, making sure your sump pump is working would probably be the biggest concern.

But when you get that forecast when you live in a region known as 'flash flood alley' you better pay attention.

“The heartbreaking catastrophe that occurred in Central Texas is a tragedy of the worst sort because it appears evacuations and other proactive measures could have been undertaken to reduce the risk of fatalities had the organizers of impacted camps and local officials heeded the warnings of the government and private weather sources, including AccuWeather,” AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter wrote in a statement Saturday morning.

Wow. Something that has been happening worldwide since the beginning of the earth is all of a sudden some crazy thing?

Rolling my eyes are the fake outrage the usual suspects are piling on squisition.  These are the same people that accuse every school shooter a tranny, blame every accident on a "dei hire" and deny that Republican assassins are Republican. They do the exact same sh1t they accuse squishy of.

Also it's a valid discussion.

Tom Fahy, the legislative director for the NWS employees’ union, told CNN that while he believes the offices had “adequate staffing and resources,” the Austin-San Antonio office is missing a warning coordination meteorologist — a role that serves as a crucial, direct link between forecasters and emergency managers.

This vacancy in the Austin-San Antonio office, along with other key roles, were the result of early retirement incentives offered by the Trump administration to shrink the size of the federal government, a NOAA official told CNN.

Aren't you one of the clowns whining about whataboutisms all the time?  You incapable of just saying Squis was low rent and out of line?  What does your tranny obsession have to do with him?

Also, you're wrong.  There was a flood watch 12 hours in advance and flood warning 3 hours in advance.  Idiot.

I thought so, particularly after Texas officials at the press conference I posted the video of went out of their way to emphasize that the NWS hadn't accurately predicted the amount of rainfall: "Everybody got the forecast from the NWS, right?"

My wife always told my kids to take meteorology in college because of missed forecasts . Anyway let’s check google’s AI on the missed forecast. The warning fatigue in particular hits home with me. We moved to Florida and was told by people living down here that we needed a weather radio for hurricanes etc.  A few weeks after we bought one it was unplugged because of the warnings going off all the time , one time 3am . The alarm is loud like a home fire alarm. FFS.

In the aftermath of a severe storm in Texas, questions have arisen regarding the accuracy of weather forecasts and whether forecasters missed or underestimated the event
.
Here's a breakdown of the key factors and perspectives:
  • Unprecedented Rainfall: The storm involved an intense, stalled weather system that dumped a massive amount of rain in a short period, leading to rapid and extreme flash flooding, particularly in the Texas Hill Country.
  • Forecasting Challenges:
    • Pinpointing Location and Intensity: While forecasters may recognize the potential for heavy rainfall, precisely predicting the exact location where the heaviest rain will fall and how intense it will be remains a significant challenge.
    • Rapid Intensification:Hurricanes and other severe storms can intensify rapidly, making it difficult for forecasters to keep pace with evolving conditions.
    • Chaotic Nature of the Atmosphere: The atmosphere is a chaotic system, and small changes in initial conditions can lead to large variations in weather forecasts.
  • Potential Impact of Staffing Cuts: Some suggest that cuts to the National Weather Service (NWS) under the previous administration may have hampered forecasting capacity. However, the NWS maintains that even with staffing challenges, timely warnings were issued ahead of the floods.
  • Warning Fatigue: In areas prone to frequent flash flooding, residents may experience "warning fatigue," potentially leading to a diminished response to weather alerts.
  • Limitations of Technology:Current forecasting technology may not be able to precisely predict events like this, where a cluster of thunderstorms stalls and delivers such extreme rainfall.
In summary: While the NWS reportedly issued warnings for the Texas storm, the event's severity and rapid development highlight inherent challenges in weather forecasting, particularly when dealing with unprecedented rainfall and flash flooding. Some point to staffing cuts at the NWS as a potential factor, while the agency emphasizes the unpredictable nature of such extreme weather events.

The concern over National Weather Service vacancies is legitimate.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/05/us/politics/texas-floods-warnings-vacancies.html

Quote

The National Weather Service’s San Angelo office, which is responsible for some of the areas hit hardest by Friday’s flooding, was missing a senior hydrologist, staff forecaster and meteorologist in charge, according to Tom Fahy, the legislative director for the National Weather Service Employees Organization, the union that represents Weather Service workers.

The Weather Service’s nearby San Antonio office, which covers other areas hit by the floods, also had significant vacancies, including a warning coordination meteorologist and science officer, Mr. Fahy said. Staff members in those positions are meant to work with local emergency managers to plan for floods, including when and how to warn local residents and help them evacuate.

That office’s warning coordination meteorologist left on April 30, after taking the early retirement package the Trump administration used to reduce the number of federal employees, according to a person with knowledge of his departure.

Hmm...

Breaking NYT:

Crucial positions at the local offices of the National Weather Service were unfilled as severe rainfall inundated parts of Central Texas — prompting experts to question whether staffing shortages made it harder for the agency to coordinate with local emergency managers as floodwaters rose.

Going to be interesting to see how FEMA, National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center operate as we get into the meat of hurricane season, with above-average activity expected.

They've already warned us that we're not prepared.  God forbid we have a big tragedy.
