You think there is no construction worker shortage?

Correct.  I think its pretty telling how ignorant you are, that you don't think there's enough blue collar worker's out there to do these jobs.

Construction labor crunch drives up costs and deepens America’s housing affordability crisis

The worker shortage meant 19K homes weren’t built last year, which cost the economy $10.8 billion

Interesting fact: The last time America severely limited immigration (got it down to net zero) was the 1920s, right before the Great Depression.

So that’s what caused the Great Depression! You learn something new everyday.

You really aren't a very intelligent person, are you?  Let's back this up a bit.  Why were slaves (sorry, illegal immigrants), hired by contractors?  Let me guess, you're sub 80 IQ thinks it was because no one wanted those jobs, right?  That would be incorrect.  The reason they were attained, was because of the Left's obsession with Labor Unions.  Because of that, construction workers were in unions and it drove up their wages past their value.  What came next?  People who weren't in unions fought back and states were forced to establish Right-to-Work laws.

Because of that, contractors moved on from union workers and take advantage of that law, and hire immigrants.  At the time, these people were mostly here on work visas.  Over time, those people stopped going back to their countries of origin and stayed here beyond what they were allowed.  Because governments looked the other way, they were allowed to stay.

So, someone with an IQ over 80 could easily come to the conclusion that, this country has plenty of legal citizens who will happily take those jobs for fair (but not inflated due to unions), wages.

Businesses exploiting cheap labor is not the fault of the wealthy businessmen, but of unions?

Thanks for the laugh. Amazing that you trust billionaires more than your fellow American workers. And for advocating that we all get paid less money. Go ahead, read that post again. You want Americans to get lower wages. Union-busters LOOOVE doofuses like you. The poor useful idiots they hope can turn the tide to break up a union.

How can anybody see the rapidly increasing wealth gap alongside decreasing union membership… and think unions are the problem?????? LOL

That’s a lot of words to say you think Fox News is lying.  (Also worth noting that they’re saying there’s been a shortage, it’s not because of mass deportations)

Mass deportations are actually raising prices now. Whoops!

It is probably worth noting that some building supply companies quoted in here are saying business is down.   In theory that should lead to lower prices on building materials at least, even if labor costs goes up.

I would have to sell my house if Somalians moved in next door. I wouldn't want my pets to be eaten.

The internet says my house is worth 700k. Don’t count on me selling for less.  I sense there are a lot of other people that feel the same.

Too bad the similarities between that era and present day aren't limited to only that.

So Trump is causing an oncoming Great Depression. In only 1 year.  Got it. Also concentration camps.

Prices aren’t going to come down significantly unless there are significant job losses.

I'm a developer and can tell you first hand that I can put up a building cheaper now than I could at any point in the last 3 years. The property costs have gone up, not so much what I put on it.

Fox News or not, believe who you want.

Home prices started skyrocketing under Biden, post Covid. It has nothing to do with Trump.

And where I'm at prices aren't going to drop anytime soon. The demand is still too high, like right after Covid.

Mexicans or not, nothing is changing

Cool rant bro.

So that construction worker shortage that everyone says is happening, you still deny it?

Material costs are up due to tariffs.
