kilroy69 1,252 Posted 18 hours ago While out last night I had a guy in line behind me at the store say "hey. I know you" Most of the time they do not in fact know me. They are confusing me for one of my brothers. In this case the dude steps back. looks at me and says "yea. You fired me when I worked at Random manufacturing plant" 10 years ago Me: please don't stab me Him: How about just a little stab. and then he stabbed me. Ok I am kidding about that part. He laughed and said not to worry. Random manufacturing plant was the worst job he ever had and was happy to get fired. Which is better than being stabbed...by someone you fired TEN YEARS AGO. It was just really strange. I have not had an onsite job in 6 years and I have not worked at Random manufacturing plant for 10. To have someone remember your face from that long ago was creepy to me.

Strike 5,618 Posted 18 hours ago You fired him man. Of course he'd remember you. I'm guessing you fired a lot of people during your time there so not odd that eventually you'd run in to one of them. I've only fired one person in my life fortunately. Not a comfortable thing to do.
seafoam1 3,126 Posted 17 hours ago Norm from Cheers was really good at firing people. But then he wasn't.
The Elevator Killer 569 Posted 17 hours ago I had a boss who was a real pr!ck. Then one day I became his boss. Everyone expected me to fire him, but I didn't, not right away. I made him suffer for a few months first.
TheNewGirl 1,506 Posted 17 hours ago You made an impression. At the time, he might not have liked you, but over all sounds like the firing was good for him. I have a manager form my past that kind of went behind my back when I'd applied for another job and was going to be offered the position. She called them, told them not to hire me. I will also never forget her, despite the fact that eventually it worked out well for me.

One posted himself in battle rap videos. The other guy went and found them and sent them to HR and the other guy got fired. What a jerk.

I was the only male on staff and I am not kidding when I say if you saw me coming you were likely about to lose your job. The women on staff could not handle firing people so I ended up firing over 600 people in the 2 years I was there. It was not set up for them to succeed. It was set up for them to fail.

I had a pr**k boss that fired me (strictly to hire “his own guys” - a few of us were fired). Anyway years later I was in a higher position and small world the company hired his son and he reported directly to me and everyone thought I would fire him or make his job a living hell and I did none of that. Treated him with respect that I would do with any employee. It drove me his did CRAZY. Finally I got a call from the dad saying his son will not be working for me anymore- poor kid having a pr**k dad like that.

Set up to fail, that’s the governments way.
