Anyone else gone through a parent losing the end of life

Pops is 82 and taking a turn for the worse, BP 100 over 70 and medications are not helping, he's always too tired to do anything and is starting to give up.  Doesn't each much, doean't drink much, sleeps ALOT and talks about not wanting to be a burden.  It sucks to see a man who was so strong my whole life like this.

Going up to see him Labor Day weekend and will try to lift his spirits throwing some ribs and beans on the Treager and talking college football.

At this point I'm just hoping he makes it through one more Thanksgiving and Christmas so that we can all be at his house to celebrate them.

Sorry Megla. It sure as hell is never easy. Once they go you have so many regrets. Call him everyday and remind him that you love him. Believe me, you'll be glad you did someday.

I lost my grandma in January at age 89 but she lived a full pretty much healthy life up until the last month or so. I was really close to her so it was pretty tough on me. I'm not ready to have that conversation about my parents yet. Mom is 66 (great health) and Dad is 70 (smoker, but decent health) so hopefully it's a long time for them.

My father got a hernia in his 50s. Went to DR,  got surgery. Apparently never was fixed properly, or he got another hernia

Age of 73 - April 2023 Hernia rapped around his intestines. He got sick and didn't fell well. He decided it was a good idea to go to bed and not the DR's. You know, most of us over 50 are proud men who need to break something to go to the dr. Rub some dirt on it. Anyway. he woke up puking sh!t (literal ) all his pee was going down into his legs. He was a large man (obese as fock) Long story short. He spent the next 8 months in the hospital for various reasons. Ended up spending maybe 5 days at home. He lost the will to live and stopped eating. Luckily I saw him the day he died. I actually got to spend time with him (alone) at the morgue (was creepy as fock) 

I did the eulogy for his funeral. I was so nervous, but I did crack the crowd up a couple times.

Well, things have taken a turn for the worse

Pop is in the hospital with pnuemonia and fluid around his heart

been in the ER all night and is now moving to surgery for an aspiration to remove the fluid

If the fluid doesn't drain or continues to build up then he will need heart surgery
