Jerry Porter was a dumb pick

In all the years what was your dumbest pick ?

Troy Williamson?  Potentially Anthony Richardson but that one is still playing out.

In 1999, my buddy had the first overall pick and selected Garrison Hearst (who had just blown out his knee and was out for the year).  After laughing at him, he panicked and pivoted to Barry Sanders (who had just retired).  After a few minutes of us all dying laughing again, he finally settled on Marshall Faulk.

He had drafted a horrible QB and ended up taking a flyer on Warner after week one.  He won the league in a landslide that year.

So funny Drizzay, I mentioned this before but was thinking the same thing. I had two guys (running same team) whispering that they couldn’t believe “this guy” was still available and in a “Triumphant” pick they announced Barry Sanders!! We laughed at that for years to come. They both quit at seasons end.

the old "i cant believe this guy is available" is a classic. Every long running league has had it happen at least once for real and I would also assume most long running leagues have it happen annually as a sarcastic joke.

Not me, of course, because I drafted LJ. But I remember Priest Holmes going 1st or 2nd overall in 2005. I ended up with Shaun Alexander and Larry Johnson and easily won the championship that year.

 Was in a big money, competitive auction draft where you get two hundred play dollars to fill fifteen positions in a standard lineup per week draft. I already have a good QB and I decided to after Vick. Got into a bidding battle and tried to play poker and drive up the cost, didn’t want him anymore at cost, and on my last bid, he says “Out. Keep him. How much money you got left?”  Fawkkkkkk spent more than a third of my money, won one game, and he won the league. And to answer your question before you ask YES.

many years ago in the IBL, team FFToday decided, as a group, to target Sydney Rice heavily. Pretty sure high draft capital was used. He went on to only play in 6 games. 

maybe it wasn't so much dumb as unlucky... since he was a stud the year prior. (and I think we did still win the title)
