Water pump at cabin issue with neighbor

Recommended Posts

A cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains is being rented by 3 couples this weekend, each with a small infant. They arrived last night between 9 pm and 11 pm. This morning, on their way to pick apples at the orchard, an older man came over and questioned how many of them are renting the cabin and that he’s turning off the water because they’re using too much and that his cabin has run out of water due to their not monitoring and over using water. Mind you, the men in the group are military men (not currently wearing uniform as they are on vacation) this isn’t a house full of sorority girls going to a club in Miami. They were very polite to the man and each went on their way.

I am a city person. Can someone explain this to me? Because you know where my mind is going, you already know it would’ve been a full out argument if I were there because how is all the water being used up when we just arrived 12 hours ago? Something about a well and a pump and 3 cabins are sharing one water thing. Everyone brought food so there was no cooking occurring in the cabin. Weird…

Didn't you go away because 90 percent of us here are pro Trump supporters, and we think over the last 8 months life has been great. People can finally say God Bless America and they mean it?

I thought we were a bad bunch of bad people who refuse to caudle social, mentally ill communists?

1) How many people does the place advertise as holding?

2) Was there anything in the rental description about water possibly running out?

edit: 3) what was the result of the “polite conversation”?  Is the water staying off?

So apparently one of the wives in the group, her parents own the cabin and the parents said that this is an ongoing issue and that the 3rd cabin (not the one with the guests vacationing or the cabin with the old man but the last cabin) is really at fault. No other explanation was given. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Luckily, the couples were out all day so that should’ve helped matters. They leave tomorrow.

So the man cut the water off and they had to use jugs of water to flush the toilet.

If the answer to this question is more than the number of people renting it, and the “polite conversation” included requesting the water be turned back on, I would dispute the charge with my credit card company.

If the parents of one of the couples own this cabin and this is a known issue, they should have warned their children/friends staying there.

Be nice to know who actually has ownership over the well water and the pump; I am gathering that since this is a cabin everything is sharing a pump or something.

No one seemed too stressed about it. They just accepted the situation. They didn't have to pay for the cabin usage, so I guess that is why no one felt the need to complain. I would've been irritated, but they all just accepted the situation and went home Sunday afternoon. I appreciate  you guys trying to help me make sense of it all.

Also, my fault because I thought they were renting the cabin.
