Nope but I was a member of the Columbia music club to get 10 CD's for a penny or something like that.

I did that too. Few times. Never paid the bill. I think BMG was another. I played the CD game.

I used to do the Columbia thing for a penny and then never buy the full priced ones.

Not old enough for K-tel but I did used to get the "Now that's what I call music" ones or other compilations.  They came in handy DJ'ing in college.

I used to like buying the movie soundtracks as it got you a bunch of good songs, a variety, on a single disc.

Singles Soundtrack and Judgement Night Soundtrack were awesome.

Judgement Night Soundtrack

This is the most underrated, unheralded, perfect-for-its-time album of the 90s. I still listen to some of the tracks from it. De La Soul's hidden classic? Slayer playing with Ice-T? Cypress Hill and Sonic Youth collaborating? Faith No More and Boo-Yaa Tribe? Yes please!

Speaking of Faith No More, Angel Dust is a close second place for unheralded 90s classic albums.

On the down side, Judgment Night is probably directly responsible for Limp Bizkit and the rise of nu metal...

I hadn't listened to this in many years, just flipped it on, still rocks.

20 hit songs by 20 original artists ……..

Was that the guys who signed Richie Valens... or was that Del Fi?  Trying to remember the LaBamba movie.

Yes I did.

For a while in the 80s, a local record store (that also sold exotic pipes for tobacco use only LOL) rented new LPs. I'm guessing it cost a dollar. I'd take them home and record them on a TDK or Maxell cassette. By the mid to late 90s, I was a Napster/LimeWire etc user.

I did this at the local library. It was free, but would have been cooler if they had the exotic pipes.

I did. Almost all vinyls in my collection were five finger discounts. We had a place here called Warehouse Records & Tapes. My friend Ces worked there. When CDs started getting hot, the owner said that he and his friends could bring in three albums a day and trade them for any CD. I lost so many of my great records doing that exchange.
