Rolling back Obama-era nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ individuals during his first term as POTUS speaks otherwise.

For transsexuals yes.  Not gays.   There is a difference

Yes, for gays and lesbians too. From my post on prior page:

Specific actions taken by the Trump administration included:

Removing explicit nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people in healthcare under the Affordable Care Act

Removed LGBTQ-related information from government websites

Attempted to block the collection of data on sexual orientation and gender identity

Trump appointed judges with records perceived as anti-LGBTQ

[...]

In addition Trump did not formally honor Pride Month in 2025 and did not allow US embassies to display a Pride flag in June as had been done under Biden. There are probably a few more I could add to this list if I had the time to look it up.

What specific privileges do heteros now have that they don’t?

Using AI overview is similar to Wiki. It is just a convenient and quick way to summarize what an actual situation is and is not presented as the last word on any subject. People who dispute it (like Hell Toupee here) are free to find a link to the contrary - although he obviously can't in this instance or he would have done so rather than deflect with some insults.

It’s much worse and less accurate than wiki and has a long way to go. Very rarely do I see Incorrect statistical stuff on wiki (especially with sports) but I can’t count the number of times I’ve googled something sports related where I know the statistical answer and google AI overview has been horribly wrong. For things that are more subjective I image there are even more inconsistencies, especially when a lot of the time Google AI is just summarizing the first article or so on a subject.

OK...So...how was AI overview horribly wrong here? And, if so, please post a correction with a link.

Access to gender-affirming care for transgender youth will be dramatically restricted by the Trump administration under new proposals by the Department of Health and Human Services.

NPR has obtained the draft text of a proposed rule that would prohibit federal Medicaid reimbursement for medical care provided to transgender patients younger than age 18. It also prohibits reimbursement through the Children's Health Insurance Program or CHIP for patients under age 19.

An additional proposed rule would go even further, blocking all Medicaid and Medicare funding for any services at hospitals that provide pediatric gender-affirming care.

The rules are being prepared for public release in early November, according to an employee at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The employee asked that NPR not use their name because they fear professional retribution for speaking to the media without authorization. An HHS spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment about the planned timing of the proposed rules' release.

In his first days in office, President Trump signed an executive order declaring that the United States "will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called 'transition' of a child from one sex to another."

In the months since, HHS released a report critical of the research that supports access to this care. A federal suicide prevention lifeline specifically for transgender youth was cancelled, as were hundreds of millions of dollars in scientific research funding related to LGBTQ people. Federal health officials warned state Medicaid directors to tread carefully, and the Department of Justice announced subpoenas of some children's hospitals and threatened providers with prosecution.

Transgender youth health care would be nearly banned everywhere under new rules : Shots - Health News : NPR https://share.google/cb2rAYDE9dEqnC97j

Excellent news.
