There are unfortunately tons of examples of right wing violence. I can’t believe I have to point this out. The point is that in these cases the people are nuts and it is not useful to try and lump them all together. That type of stuff is what enforces the tribal bullshit.

Jan 6th is a great example to use in this discussion about political motivated violence we are having because it was for such a ridiculous reason and the guy was re-elected afterwards. He should have been removed from the political arena and cast out to sell his trinkets and scams.

Again. You didn’t wanna round up criminals and put them in jail to be picked up there. Your policies allow them to stay and be criminals in these communities. By federal law. I was in a grocery store parking lot this Monday.  A female driver started backing out of her parking space without looking.  I note also her backing and brake lights were not working.  She nearly hit me and would have had I not been watching where I was going. I was not armed at the time so shooting at her was not an immediate option.  I chose to not strike her car, swear at her, or do the Ratso Rizzo, "I'm walking here!" thing.  I went on about my day.  I even have my doubts she was aware of what happened as she was looking at her phone when I got around to the side and could see her.

I do note that the gun shots did not neutralize the danger.  The vehicle kept moving and in fact increased its speed.  Stepping aside reduced the danger.  One could, I suppose, argue she may have presented future danger to others in the area but the law gets pretty murky on defense of others for potential future danger.

This was my point. He didn't need to shoot her.  Shooting her didn't change his outcome.  I don't know the law if that it's still classified as self defense even if you didn't need to take the action to defend yourself.

Play the video out. He shot her through the passenger window I believe as she was turning away. 

I wasn’t the one getting driven at but his actions from the vid I have seen are excessive. I wouldn’t want to be this cop that’s for sure.

I stick with my initial assessment.  Technically he legally had the right to self defense.  Whether his method was reasonable or responsible I would say no.  I trained my officers and wrote our policies so that they could never shoot at a moving vehicle as there is just no good outcome from that, but in a split second decision, can the officer make a bad but legal choice of self defense, I would say the law says that he can.

I give cops the benefit of the doubt and they deserve it. Judgement calls in this situation are tricky to determine. This looks bad on the cop to me and some poor judgement. Think he’s in the wrong line of work.
