erknjerk 4 Posted October 29, 2008 Hey guys. Anyone here know how it's done? The ball I got is slick as hell. And I always hear about the trainers breaking in the game balls.
Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted October 29, 2008 I recently bought one at D!ck's Sporting Goods for $15.00 that was 'tackified'. Great ball right off the bat. Try scuffing it up a little with some 220 grit sandpaper or emory cloth.

MedStudent 56 Posted October 29, 2008 Work the ball with your hands and it should get more grippable. Most quality footballs have a resin applied to it that is slippery at first but once it is rubbed down it becomes stickier. Wilson supplies NFL teams with a brush and sponge to rub the balls down with. After that the ballboys just use their hands to rub it down and then the qb will check to see if they meet his specifications and he may rub them down a little as well.
