Brian Ross to Leave ABC News

Brian Ross, the veteran ABC News investigative correspondent who embarrassed the network late last year with an on-air report suggesting former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had been told by President Donald Trump to make contact with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign for the Oval Office, is leaving the network, along with Rhonda Schwartz, who served as the chief investigative producer for Ross’ team.

I don't have a problem with Ross, and I think this might actually hurt the industry rather than help it. But this needs to keep happening if we are to get some movement of these organizations away from opinion journalism and back to actual journalism.

This reminds me of the Dan Rather situation. I actually feel bad for these guys in circumstances like this. It's their producer. In rather's case it was a chick named Mary Mapes who steered him wrong. Even a first-year producer would be fired for what she did and didn't do.

 

Sounds like much of the same here.

 

But ultimately, these guys are the face of the news even if they aren't the people putting words to paper. And you need a sacrificial lamb. Always like this. Guaranteed we're getting get Shango black mama Khan as the replacement.
