yeah but bouncing back from a major injury at the age of 35 is different than it is at 24. dont get me wrong, I think the team could have made a better pick here. its even possible they signed cousins not thinking they'd be able to get a QB at the draft table. either way, getting a young QB when your starter is 35+ in terms of age is probably not a bad thing in the long run. short run.... not so good. but if they think they cant win a superbowl with cousins maybe this is the succession plan already in place.

true. but as none were drafted in round 1 I could likely only see possibly 1 (maybe 2) going in round 1 if they land in really good spots where there is a clear path to a starting role. as no RB's have been taken yet, its too early to predict this. but you are probably right. 1 RB likely will go in round 1 of your dynasty. Maybe even 2

agreed. and he likely plays all of this year and probably all of next. How long he holds the job depends on how he plays. you know the drill.

well, one thing is for sure, I dont know that Darnold has ever had this kind of talent at WR. if he cant make it here, he should never get another chance (in my opinion) but JJ has a lot of the traits you would want in a QB to run this offense. I personally think it is only a matter of time til he unseats Darnold. the only question I have is whether it is week 1 or maybe mid season (presumably after the bye)

wow, thats a cool story. maybe we should write a movie about this and tell a story. we could call the movie Draft day and talk about all the trials and tribulations of a GM on draft day. it would be great!

fair point. his playoff record leaves a lot to be desired. but in the regular season hes been money. either way I never thought he was the long term solution, and given the draft pick here, maybe the team doesnt either. given his age and the major injury hes coming back from.....I figured hed be a 1 or 2 year band aid solution. when the wheels fall off for a QB the fall is fast. he might have 3 or 4 years left, but he also might only have 1. its even possible hes finished already and none of us know it. its tough to say but the injury complicates things a lot more as well.

and honestly at least one or two good TE's. you wont have to spend a first on a TE (unless its a large league) as the QB and WR should dominate round 1
-
maybe when they signed him they told him they'd draft someone and that they want him to mentor the kid. sometimes that part is just as important as the on field part. either way this is all speculation. but I have to think if Cousins gave them a 2 year window before he likely retires, now is the perfect time to draft someone and let him learn in a low pressure atmosphere. keep in mind Cousins is 35 and coming off a major injury. his good health is far from guaranteed.

hes not a lock. there are a lot of teams who dont like smallish WR as they can often be Jammed at the line at the NFL level. some can overcome this but a lot never do. I agree Buffalo might be a good landing place for him but they could easily go in a different direction.
-
honestly it wouldnt surprise me to see them take a guard as well. it feels like both the coach and the GM are committed to putting together a good line and if this is to be a wasted year might as well make sure that line is top notch.

what about the chargers? any word on whether they may be in the mix? we all know they could use a receiver
-
maybe they know something that we dont know. Maybe cousins agreed to a 4 year deal knowing hes only playing 2 of them (or something of the like)
-
I am less worried about that than I am the injuries. at the NFL level the linemen are bigger, stronger, faster, and meaner. whoever drafts him better have a good line cuz I think hes a bit fragile
-
I figured if they drafted an OL that round 2 would be a WR and round 3 a RB but I could be wrong on that
-
this is what a handful of the scouting reports have said (to paraphrase) if he didnt have so many injuries already as a young man hed be going higher in the draft. the general thought is whoever takes him may be able to expect a reasonably short career but there is a chance he may be a day 1 starter
