Jameis Winston Combine Review - Eli Manning comparison

Recommended Posts

Eli Manning with throwing motion reminiscent of Leftwich... Throw in on-field outburst tendencies..

Does a high level of confidence warrant a first rounder with this review?

I say hell no. Any staff drafting this kid should be immediately fired.

I don't really like the kid but, he is the best prospect the draft has to offer. By far.

If you need a QB I don't know how you can pass on him.

Best prospect? I hope you are just talking qb. I do hear some people say he is the best prospect period, like it is matter of fact. Then in 3 years when the stupid team that drafted him is looking for his replacement, while other players from the draft are starting to become top level talent, how will winston being labeled "best overall prospect" look then? Pretty bad.

USC DL Williams, and Fowler out of UF are much better impact players IMO.... Didn't like the fact Fowler was wearing a gold watch running the 40. Little too primadonna for me... Could be a Gholston

I do think he has a chance to be a good leader. He doesn't come off as smart, but he comes off as down to earth and genuine. That's something RGIII lacked. The problem is he doesn't seem like a worker.

I do t get it. He's a clear dummy and threw the second most ints in the nation. It's college, your supposed to beat opponents 60-7 and throw 5tds a game. How can a guy who's turnover prone get better vs better opponents in the nfl? I wouldn't take him even with the last pick in the draft, terrible pro. Can't wait to watch Tampa bury themselves for yet another 5 years.

EXACTLY.

I think this is all a plan to talk up Winston and have Mariota drop. This has the Manziel feel all over again. Hype the idiot and have the solid QBs fall. Worked out great for the Vikings (Bridgewater) and Raiders (Carr) last year.

im no scout, but i watched around 75% of his games @ FSU.

On the surface, i like just about everything i see in Winston.

legit program and won a ton of gms.

moves in the pocket pretty well and decent arm.

seems to have a high accumen for the Xs and Os.

i think his best attribute is his ability to seemingly throw w/ anticipation.

i think that profile translates pretty well to the pro game.

Since you watched 75% of his game, what's the cause of his high turnover this season? 25 TD and 18 INT.

Poorly thrown passes? WR ran wrong route? Poor read of defense? High risk anticipated throws?

Skinny,

I can't say I could explain the Int's entirely.

Not enough info from watching TV gms to form a full opinion.

I'd guess the Int's are explained via several factors, including the ones you mentioned above.

Personally, I'm not putting a lot of emphasis on the Int's.

He's pretty clearly an accurate passer in my mind.
