2025 NFL Draft Profile - QB Shedeur Sanders

Uh-oh. May want to re-think my strategy. If the Jets are doing something, it's usually the wrong thing.

2025 NFL Draft Profile - QB Shedeur Sanders

That's why I want Tampa to trade Mayfield this offseason. Compile picks for trading down to add draft capital for next year. Any random QB can win 8 games for Tampa next year, just like Mayfield can. Why pay him a ton of money to do what some JAG can do?

Dolphins Bench Tua for Quinn Ewers

Can't tank with 3 weeks left when you have 6 wins. A month too late. If they wanted to tank, they'd have tanked when they were 1-6. Besides, Ewers is probably an upgrade. They have pick 11 right now... if they go 0-3 (which is possible), the best they'll probably get to is #10. Don't think they pick anywhere other than somewhere between 10th and 12th.

There are a couple who have one, not the other, but still produce. Mahomes went to 2 Super Bowls in the last 3 seasons with college caliber WR's. Joe Burrow took a college level OLine team to a Super Bowl and AFCCG in consecutive years. Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen don't really have anything special at WR (I think in both of their cases, they make their WR's better than what they are). Justin Herbert has never had a good WR corp, just 1 good possession receiver, and never had a good OLine, but he gets them to the playoffs. For the most part though, that is my point. Offensive line is the most important unit on a team, not the QB. The thing that tells you how good a QB is or isn't, is when they do have a good OLine and WR's (like Chicago), yet the QB is inconsistant and the offense struggles more than you'd expect. You're a big QBR guy. Caleb Williams is below average among his peers (ranks 19th). That's not good. He also has a sub 60% pass completion and a sub 90 passer rating. Though, he's in Y2, so that's fine. I'm just not sure what to make of him yet. We'll see what happens next year. Tua is another example of a QB like Williams, but we know more about him. Miami's Oline was has been pretty good (not great though), prior to this year, and he's had a good run game and good WR's... yet, 1, he can't stay healthy and 2, he can't get them to the playoffs. He and Kyler Murray. Not saying they've had great talent, but they've had solid help, and I believe they both are 0-1 in the playoffs. Jameis Winston was another one who had a good line and good receivers and never went to the playoffs.

Outside of literally a small handful of QB's, the rest of the leagaue is full of guys who need to have the right fit, to be good. With Darnold, being on the Jets and Panthers with NO help from the OLine or WR corp, couldn't carry the team. He's shown that in Minnesota and Seattle, that with that help, he can be a productive QB. It's the same with Mayfield... give him an OLine, WR's and right system, he can be productive (note, this year he's not as good because the OLine and WR's are all hurt... not a surprise that the offense is struggling). Daniel Jones is another example. As is Geno Smith. Fields was in Chicago, no help. Goes to Pittsburgh, no help. Goes the Jet... no help. No QB is ever going to succeed in that enviornment if they're not one of the few special QB's. Daniel Jones, Geno Smith, other examples of what happens when you give a guy help. I don't think Bryce Young has a lot of help, but he has some. Carolina has a pretty good Oline, inconsistancy at RB, and really only McMillan who's a rookie, as help on the outside. I'm not so sure what Coker and Leggett are. They may be NFL WR's, but probably backend. I'm not that sold on Canales either. I wasn't upset when he left Tampa. He's "ok", but he'd not anything to brag about. It's why Carolina is inconsistent on offense. Chicago has a very good OLine, good help on the outside, and a good backfield. Williams is very inconsistant. But, they're winning. I'm not sure what to make of him yet. I can tell you this much, I have Odunze in my keeper league and because of Williams, I'm keeping him.

2025 NFL Draft Profile - QB Shedeur Sanders

I don't disagree. They have a multitude of issues on offense... crappy QB's, trash on the OLine, and terrible WR's. Now if they end up with the #1 pick, which is possible, they could get a good haul for it. Teams who need a QB, rarely pass up one if there's one there, at the #1 pick. If this regime stays in place (can't imagine why it would), it's probably in their best interest to trade down and accumulate a lot of picks to fill the holes they need. Fortunately for the people who take over in 2027, this plan won't work, and they'll have a top 5 pick to address the QB position.

2025 NFL Draft Profile - QB Shedeur Sanders

I'll be interested to see what becomes of the Browns' GM and HC. I'm thinking they both get fired at seasons end. This will be 2 years in a row where they finish with 3 wins. These two have done nothing to improve the organization. Back in 2022, I understood the idea of moving on from Baker to Watson... based on performace. When Watson was last on the field, he was a legit MVP caliber QB while Baker was "meh". Baker is still "meh", but Watson isn't worth a roster spot in the NFL, let alone a starting job. That said, these guys not only paid Watson a boatload of cash, they gave up a lot talent to bring him in as well. What they paid to get him and keep him, was absurd. Here we sit 4 years later, that team still blows and on top of that, let's imagine what the pre-draft discussion was.... Berry/Stefanski: I like these two QB's (Gabriel & Watson), and think that if we the price is right, we should take one, if not both. Haslam's: Wait, didn't you guys just trade a bunch of picks for a QB who can't stay on the field a couple years ago? Oh, and we he can stay on the field, you gave him a ton of our money to be terrible? Also, you go rid of the guy who was here, who's an average starting QB in the league... now you want to draft TWO QB's... when we only have 7 picks, and a terrible offense? Berry/Stefanski: Yes, that's right. Haslam's: Ok, but you guys realize that you're both going to get fired if one of these two don't pan out, right? Berry/Stefanski: Yes, we know. So, assuming that's the converstaion, I think Berry and Stefanski will be fired on Monday January 5th. The new GM and HC, during the interview process will probably tell the Haslam's that Gabriel and Sanders aren't NFL starters and get the green light to draft their guy. As of right now, the Browns have the 4th pick and 2 of the 3 teams ahead of them (Giants & Titans), just drafted their future QB's (Dart & Ward), that only leaves the Raiders as a team who could take a QB ahead of them. Odds are that the Browns will get a top 2 pick because the Giants have a game against the Raiders, so one of them will end up with 3 wins and lose the SOS tiebreaker. Tennessee has a game against the Saints in Tennessee, a game I see them winning. So, the loser of the Giants/Raiders game will likely end up with the #1 pick and Cleveland the #2 pick. I can't imagine a new GM and HC walking into the building with virtually every/any QB on the board at their disposal and passing up on all of them because of Gabriel and Sanders. tl/dr, I think the Browns draft a QB in the top 3, let Gabriel and Sanders fight for QB2 next season (loser gets released), and Watson will be QB3 (because he's too expensive to cut). I don't think Sanders ever starts another game for the Browns after this season, barring injury.

Good, then they can all get in a bidding war for him.

TNF Discussion: Falcons @ Buccaneers - Week 15

Yes, there were injuries, hence my point... when everything around him is great, he puts up good numbers but not so much when the situations aren't ideal. Not saying that as a knock, as I believe that like outside of the top QB's in the league, he's 1 of 20 other guys in the league. Now, from a team standpoint, it's better for the Bucs to move on from him after the season.

TNF Discussion: Falcons @ Buccaneers - Week 15

Well, I mean that's one way to look at it, I guess. Another way would be, dudes a decent QB who's made better by his team as opposed to a guy who makes his team better... kinda like, I don't know.... 20 other QBs in the league. You're like my cousin... he said "LeBron is the best NBA player of all-time". When I said, "I don't know about that. I'd put Jordan, Russell, Bird, & Wilt ahead of him." His response was, "Oh, so LeBron sucks, right?" LOL, I literally granted he was probably Top 5 all-time, but because I didn't think he was the best... omg!

TNF Discussion: Falcons @ Buccaneers - Week 15

Yup. When he had a top 5 OLine and the best RB in the NFL. That tenure in Cleveland.

TNF Discussion: Falcons @ Buccaneers - Week 15

He's a mediocre QB who when everything around him is great, i.e. OLine, WR's, backfield, game calling... he's plays really well. Any ONE of those things faulter, and he's "meh". Just like 2023, just like this year, just like in Cleveland.
