In reality LGB should be a stand alone as should the T. I have a gay family member and she said the gays have nothing in common with trans people. The gays are attracted to their own sex, trans are people who think they are a different sex than they actually are. Not even in the same league. You of all people should know this.

"Not only does it suggest that minors may be mature enough to consent to sexual activity, but it also asserts that 'criminal law may not in any way impair' the so-called right to abortion or to 'gender-affirming care.'" Other portions of the report advocate for the mass decriminalization of sex acts. As part of this decriminalization, "consensual sexual conduct, irrespective of the type of sexual activity, the sex/gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression of the people involved, or their marital status, may not be criminalized in any circumstances," according to the report. Yes/no. There are all kinds of specialists and leans, just like medical doctors. My wife is bi-polar. She sees a consistent psychiatrist for med adjustments and other things, but sees other people in the field for the more bi-weekly talking through your feelings portion of the program. From my experience the psychiatrists are more general, see a bunch of different illnesses, because they are mostly the keys to the meds. The counselors/therapists/psychologists are a bit more focused - style of therapy, specialization in a type of trauma or illness (e.g. people who help with childhood abuse or rape victims for example). Where I am going with this is that (and anybody feel free to correct me here) my understanding is these gender affirming care clinics are a mixed bag of stuff dealing with this issue - part of that is chopping off parts and part of that is the counseling/therapy part of it. These places become a catch all for people - sort of on the lines of an abortion clinic, as there they have the actual abortion and counseling in the same spot. The main problems with the clinics are two-fold as I see it: 1. many or most were allowing the hormones/surgeries for minors 2. Many or most didn't have the ability to diagnose the patient as truly GD - it's more about support/family counseling, etc. that I describe above. So what is happening way too often is that kids are told elsewhere that they are trans or GD, they go to these clinics where they treat them as such and go forward with all the rest. So the important part about the psych evals, diagnosis, meds, etc. seems to be largely skipped over. My 1 and 2 need to be addressed and are not acceptable, but IMO banning this care for minors totally is wrong because now these patients wouldn't have access to the counselors, family care, things like that.

This is an honest question as I don't know. I am for therapy as I think many of these people suffer from mental illness. Is there special trans therapy? Do other people with other mental disorders get a different brand of therapists?

I see an effort to end gender affiming care - which 100% does include couseling and therapy for GD. Yes, it includes hormones and surguries, but that is not the majority of trans patients that get those things. I am fine restricting those options to 18+, I am not fine with ending it all together. I can't speak for others, but this is where I am coming from when I am pushing back against these bans and shut downs. I'm not convinced that these patients are getting adequate psych care when that happens, and I don't see solutions to fill the void.

I philosophically agree with you, with the caveat that true gender dysphoria is very rare, so I would expect the counseling to not be a rubber stamp that the child is trans, but rather a deep exploration and evaluation for gender dysphoria, as well as the various other mental illnesses which correlate to self-identification of trans (e.g., depression, anxiety, self-hatred).

When you frame it like that, as in general? No. Do I think people here would be against counseling that in any way had an outcome of a trans kid? Different answer. I think the hysteria and distrust is at such a high level and I've seen comments here that there is no such thing as a trans person that lead me to believe people would be against that type of counseling.

They are presented in a positive light on their own website while being roundly condemned by detractors on the left. This is no surprise. Anyway, if you want to know what a group says, you have to listen to them in their own words, while their detractors perspective is important for balance/interpretation. The first link is a protest this group against drag queen story hour where the protestors (not her, the NY branch) got arrested for going into the politician's apartment building lobby. For the record, when leftoid fanatics protested at Jenny Dirtcan's and Ted Wheeler's homes, I found it juicily hilarious and well deserved. But then, months later, when they did so at Justice Kavanaugh's home, not so much. So my thinking had to kind of evolve since I realize the double-standard of laughing at home protests against mayors I despise but then being pissed/afraid when it happens to justices I like. You know, I have to be consistent. Consequently, I would not support taking a protest to a NYC Councilmember's home. When people conflate the gay community with pedos and groomers things like the Colorado shooting happen. This goes with what the drag queen we discussed in the other thread was saying about warning parents to keep their kids away from their events and these events should be adults only. The LGBTQ community is not a monolith. There are voices of sanity inside the gay, trans, and drag queen communities that are against presenting adult content to kids, against sexualizing children, and against sex change surgery. And frankly, that's quite refreshing. Then the third link is just a character assassination smear which Media Matters does, and not very well. Oh no, some gays are conservative and don't support everything the activists want to do to kids. Free thinking is terrible! Get with the program!

Just keep shrieking about mutilation, castration, etc. and surely you will convince somebody with an IQ above 70 someday. Until then, cry more. Not one person believes you give a flying F about “leave the children alone”. Transgender controversy is the issue your social media feed or your cable news channel told you to be angry about. A year ago you couldn’t stop posting about CRT. Now it’s this. Next year it will be something else. I need somebody to properly define the term "Gender Affirming Care" for minors. I keep hearing this terminology used to soften what it actually could be. Define it. If it means counselling kids who are confused, maybe pre-pubescent but gay? Kids with other issues like anxiety, autism that may be gay but now its cool to be "Trans"? Loving them, counseling them, until they finish puberty and truly grow into their body and mind. Then I am all for that care. If it means loading children up with hormones or worse some sort of surgery then you are a sick person and should be in jail.

Again, no. If you want to use another word other than tomboy, go ahead. Tomboys are and have always been girls that simply reject female stereo types. There’s no historical data that says tomboys reject the idea of men and women being the only genders. No one is blurring anything.. for all intents and purposes, trans people adhere to the binary, they just feel like the opposite gender. Non binary, rejects not only their gender assigned at birth, but the fact that there are only two genders. To me, the latter is actually worse because you’re literally just making sh!t up.

I get your point, but all those groups listed were considered "other" throughout most of our lives, and that's my point. Many marginalized, bullied, etc. So I would argue that indeed they have been something other than 100% female up through now socially, which is what we are talking about here. Again, I feel you and others are largely blurring trans with this stuff. I don't read that as the tomboys are now not female, as in they need different bathrooms or to play mens sports, they are just now likely called non-binary or demi-something or other.
