Portis26 0 Posted April 5, 2006 I say Baltimore... He surely isn't coming back to Tennesse after this weeks fiasco... Other teams I thought... Bills? Minnesota? I'd say the Jets, but it wouldn't make sense... not too many options out there - IMO

9-Route 0 Posted April 5, 2006 fumbleweed and wildman outlined a great case in another thread about the curious nature of this news. to develop in this wayis odd, and it surely signals something odd/fishy. the last time a guy wasnt allowed at his complex to work was couch, and it was because he was on the trade block and they didnt want him injuring himself and reducing his value. with mcnair's 'triple issues' (salary/age/health), it may be signs they are moving towards volek and his understudy (leinart/cutler?) to take over. a team on the bubble in need of qb leadership for a short term run would be ideal: chicago? (great fit, but they are overloaded at qb with grossman, griese, orton) tampa? (simms seems ready, they let griese go) baltimore? (most predict a collins-fassel reunion, but a polished qb with arguably the most talented defense leaguewide might be 'title-deadly')
Bad_Mo_focher 1 Posted April 5, 2006 The Warrior Hall of Fame. Man is that guy a warrior. Tough, gritty warrior. Son of a warrior b!tch just can't warrior be stopped warrior. Not sure what team he'll end up with but we can all rest assured that he will end up on the injury report every friggin week.
fightklub 0 Posted April 5, 2006 Not sure what team he'll end up with but we can all rest assured that he will end up on the injury report every friggin week. That is what playing a QB in the NFL will do to you over time....

I heard doss of the colts lamenting the loss of thornton the other day...these were some great signings. this organization hasn't treated it's players any worse over the past 5-7 years than any other organization in football........they are running a business, and people get hurt when that happens.......name me any organization, and I'll name you unhappy players over time... it happens. this isn't the employee of the year getting fired from mom and pop's family diner.... it's a multi-million dollar business with no room for tears and pleasantries.....it may not be what fans want to hear...but cry me a river, this is football.....i think mcnair might just make it out there if we let him go....and no one can ever take away the years of great football he gave this city. MicktheGreat 1 Posted April 5, 2006 In my opinion, I'd rank McNair's possible teams for next year as: 1. Baltimore Ravens The Ravens seem to be involved in several trade rumors involving McNair. Boller improved late last season; however, McNair (even as much as he's declined in recent years) is still better than Boller. This seems like the most likely destination to me... 2. Minnesota Vikings Brad Johnson played OK last season; however, at his age, I certainly wouldn't want him as the only viable QB option going into the season (and NO...backup QB Mike McMahon is NOT a viable option at QB). 3. Arizona Cardinals They signed Warner to an extension, but they also lost the young, talented McCown. Just like with the Vikes, I wouldn't want the aged Warner as the only proven QB on roster. 4. Tennessee Titans As bad as things have gotten with McNair & the Titans, I feel like it's not TOTALLY out of the realm of possibility that McNair could end up re-structuring with the Titans. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this whole situation is just a pissing contest between agent Bus Cook, owner Bud Adams, and GM Floyd Reese. 5. Cincinnatti Bengals Believe it or not, I wouldn't be shocked if a team like the Bengals made a play for McNair. The Bengals lost backup Jon Kitna to the Lions. Last year's starter (and franchise QB) Carson Palmer is coming off a pretty significant knee injury, and there's no telling if he'll be the same QB coming back. Right now, the Bengals's backups are Doug Johnson (uh-oh) and Craig Krenzel (double uh-oh). The Bengals have a high-powered offense and they're pretty close to being top-notch contenders. With that kind of talent, ??? at the QB position (with the Palmer injury), and a viable chance to win the Super Bowl, McNair might take less money to go to a team like the Bengals. Just a thought... Turbo 0 Posted April 6, 2006 The Niners have money, some draft picks, and looking for a Vet QB to teach Alex Smith and back him up... I was thinking almost the same thing. Except I was thinking it would be Alex Smith backing McNair up this year.

The Vikes seem committed to BJ for this year. And I don't think McNair will sign to be a backup, unless there's no one willing to give him a shot at starting. Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted April 6, 2006 With Couch, on the couch. As I said on another thread. McNair and Cook knew this was coming. His cap number for next year is 23.4 Mill.

Clash, I'm more surprised how the whole communciation thing played out. There have been no major media rumblings of McNair being uncooperative in the locker room, and for the team to just bar him from working out like that without getting in touch with him ahead of time was not the best communication (as you acknowledge). I don't know what personal anecdotes you have about him that bring him down a peg or two in your book, but I certainly can understand that athletes in public situations can certainly have good, bad, and ugly moments. McNair has been a great competitor on the field. I know he's been too dinged to stay on the field for much of the past two seasons, but he's had far more seasons where he sucked it up (without the media attention) and put on some shows. I think people are quicker to bring up the past two years and not the majority of his career. Honestly, I think this is really the pivotal season for McNair. Either he gets back on track physically after a year of relatively decent health or his career continues to take a downslide...I saw someone on another forum compare McNair to a modern-day Billy Kilmer. I don't agree for the his whole career, but there are similarities. I think McNair is capable of a decent year but his environment will be a huge factor (obviously). As a fan, I'd like to see him stay a Titan, but I understand the Titan's position--just the inpersonal way they handled it doesn't seem cool...

Isnt it the orginazations fault for completing a deal with a player thats gonna bite them in the arse with salary cap, Im sure they were trying to save money on the cap the year they signed him. At some point the team is gonna have to pay him. Or were thay thinking they would restructure his deal the last year, either way seems sketchy to throw out your team leader
